(Mya's POV)
I opened my eyes as my alarm went off. 7:00 am. We would join the Newsboys on their tour today. I was hesitant. I wasn't sure why. My boss at work agreed to let me have tome off so I could go. My mom encouraged me to go. My best friend would be with me. So why was I so nervous?
I whipped my blankets off and got dressed. Marley had already gotten up and was waiting downstairs. I grabbed my suitcase and backpack and headed downstairs.
"Good morning, sweetie." My mom greeted.
"Good Morning, Mom." I greeted back.
"I made you girls little breakfast." My mom said. "Come eat a little before you go."
I sat my bags down by the door and joined my mom and Marley at the kitchen table. We ate, talked and laughed. It surprised me how happy my mom seemed. It was strange. She was handling this so well. I really hope she'll be okay with me gone. She's never been by herself for this long. Was I really about to leave her?
"Mom, are you absolutely sure you're gonna be okay with me gone?" I asked.
"I'll be fine." My mom said, reaching across the table to take my hand. "You're starting to sound like a mother."
I smiled and we continued our breakfast. At around 7:30, we decided we'd better go wait outside for the guys to pick us up. Once we both made sure Marley and I both had everything we wanted or needed, we exchanged our goodbyes.
My mom wrapped her arms around me. "I love you. Stay safe and have fun."
"I will." I said, returning the hug. "I love you too. You stay safe too."
"Call me as soon as you get to the next town." My mom instructed.
"Call you at every town?
My mom laughed. "No, I trust you. Just the next town. Just so I know that you made it."
I smiled and we hugged one more time. Marley and I grabbed out stuff and headed out the door.
"I can't believe we are waiting outside your house for the Newsboys to come pick us up!" Marley screamed.
If anybody on our street wasn't awake...they were now. Marley had some pipes. We waited for about ten minutes, when Marley began slapping my shoulders and pointing like a maniac. Coming down our street was a sleek and shiny black bus(A/N: Blackish- gray on the outside. I think that's how their bus looks. Idk).
I could hear my heart thumping in my chest as the bus stopped right in front of my house. The bus doors opened and the Newsboys stepped out.
"Good Morning, girls." Michael greeted us.
"Hi!" Marley and I greeted.
"If you two are ready to go, Dunacn and I will bring your suitcases and you two can follow Jeff and Jody inside." Michael instructed.
Marley and I nodded and followed Jody and Jeff inside. The bus was beautiful(A/N: I have no idea what the inside of their bus looks like so I'm making something up). There were a couple of couches, a tv, a small kitchen area. And...a girl? She had long dark brown hair and green eyes. We didn't see her at the show last night so I assumed she was a crew member who had been helping with the equipment.
"Hi." She greeted us. "You must be Mya and Marley. Congratulations on winning the contest."
"Thanks." Marley said. "Who are you?"
"I'm Avery." The girl replied. "I help with the tour, married to the drummer, help keep these boys out of trouble."
"We don't get into trouble." Jody argued.
"Thanks to me." Avery retorted.
"Anyway, this is the main area of the bus where we usually hang out." Jeff told us, reverting back to the tasks we were supposedto be doing. "Back there are the bunks and in between is the bathroom."
"Cool." Marley replied. "Our home away from home for the next...how ever long the tour is."
"A whole year." Michael announced, as he and Duncan entered the bus.
"We get to spend an entire year with you guys?!" Marley gasped.
"Yep." Duncan answered. He motioned to Avery. "I see you three have met."
"Yeah." I nodded. "So what now?"
"You two can pick out which bunks you want." Jeff replied.
Marley and I nodded and followed Avery and the boys back to the bunks. They showed us which ones were open and me and Marley wended up taking two bunks across from each other. Once we set our bags on our bunks, we all headed back to the lounge.
"So, where's the next show at?" Marley asked.
"Richmond, Kentucky." Avery informed. "We should be there in about three hours."
And those three hours went by fast. We spent them talking, laughing and getting to know each other. And I had to admit, I was having fun so far. It's not everyday you get to hang out with famous people.
But now I'm starting to see them as more than that.
