Dad says in absolute shock. Which is understandable, considering the son I had was supposed to have died shortly after being born.

My son, Dad. Leigh.
I replied, trying desperately to get my own head around it.

This is... This is my grandfather?
Leigh.. I mean Cooper asks nervously.

I reply with a soft smile.

To my suprise my father embraces Cooper with a hug. While Bree stand before me with a hint of sadness. Kaida is mixed with confusion, and excitement.

Is this my big brother?
She asks.

Cooper looks back and forth between me, and Kaida.

This is Kate's daughter.

Hi, Kaida. It's very nice to meet you.
He says as he gently shakes her hand.

I nervously think about how Kate might react. It's a suprise for everyone, but I just hope that it doesn't come between us.

Cooper left a couple of hours later.

And shortly after Kate arrived home.

I knew I'd have to break the news to her.

Hi, babe. How was your day?
She asked as she lay beside me on the sofa, placing her legs along my lap.

Actually, there is something I need to speak to you about.
I say awkwardly.
She looks at me with sad eyes, maybe she thinks I've changed my mind about us? That would never happen.

Rome?
She asks with teary eyes.

Do you remember the baby my childhood girlfriend had?
She nodded, but said nothing.

It turns out my son didn't die.
Shock is written all over her face.

But, how is that possible?
She says softly.

Lola lied to me. Leigh showed up here today.

She stood up and paced the room, back and forth.

Kate, I swear I didn't know.

I know you didn't. I'm just surprised. I didn't expect you to say what you've just said.

Are you mad?
I ask sadly. Worrying that maybe this was going to ruin us.

Mad? What no. Of course not. I'm sad. Sad for you, for your son.
She says taking a deep breath.
I just.. I'm worried too.
She said hesitantly.

Worried? Worried about what?
I ask as I stand up, and wrap my arms around her.

About her, his mother. I mean there was something between you too, you made a child together. I guess I'm afraid you'll realise you don't want me, maybe after all these years you'll realise you want her.
She says shaking her head.

I take her face in my hands, so I can look her in the eye.

I never loved Lola. I was young. I love you, Kate. Nobody or anything would ever change that. But, I want a relationship with my son.
I needed her to know I meant it, but I needed her to know that I couldn't turn my back on my son either.

I want you to have a relationship with him too.
She says with a soft smile.

I kiss her softly, silently thanking her for not trying to stand in the way.

Kate's POV

I decided to go for breakfast at the nearby diner before work. Rome and the kids were fast asleep at home. I kissed each of them good-bye before I left.

I sat silently in the diner with my breakfast, taking in the news Rome gave me 3 nights ago. I guess part of me still hadn't got my head around it. He has another son. A son that one day could be my stepson. It was all just so crazy, yet sad. Both of them had missed so much time. It made me hold so much anger towards Lola. How could anyone be so cruel, to not only their child's father, but their own child also? I was baffled by her poor choices, that easily could have lead to irreparable damage.

May I sit here?
A deep voice asks. I look up to see Cooper.

Sure.
I say gesturing to the chair in front of me.

I was here alone too, seen you and thought we could keep each other company.
He said with a bright smile.

I didn't mind, but it's good to see you. I'm sorry for how I left that night. It was so rude of me.
I say feeling a bit guilty, because he was so nice to me. Like a great friend, and I told him I'd come back, but I never did.

Oh stop. By the look of the man at the door, it seemed important.
He said taking a bite of his food.

It was. It started off on a bad note, but thankfully the night ended better.

He say giving me all of his attention.

Well, the man at the door was Rome's father. He said some nasty things. Long story short Rome came back, and he remembered everything.
I couldn't help but smile. For once everything seemed to be going great.

Really? That's amazing news. I'm so happy for you.
He said with sincerity.

So, what has you here?
I ask, trying to get off the subject.

Well, I was here to do some work, but then I seen you.

Work?
I ask.

Oh, yeah I write. It's handy I can work wherever, whenever I like.
He said with a chuckle.

Sounds fun. What do you write exactly?

Well, mostly fiction stories. It might sound unbelievable but, I like to write Drama, and Romance stories.
He said with flushed cheeks.

Really? Are your stories popular?
I ask, realising I'm being a little too nosey.

Well, I mean each one have between 10-40 million reads.
He says trying to sound humble.

Wow. You must tell me where I can find them.

Oh no. Now that would be embarrassing. Nobody knows who I am. My family and friends don't even know what stories I write. I guess I like the freedom of writing what I want, and it not to be personal. I like the privacy. It gives me more freedom.

Maybe one day, huh?
I say with a smile, making him chuckle.

I'm sorry, I've got to go, I'm late of work.
I say grabbing my bag quickly.

He asks shlyly.

But before I can answer, he cuts me off.

I know you're with Rome. Just for friendship. I can speak to you. I could do with another friend.
He says with a smile.

I smile back.

He hands me a pen and piece of paper so I can give him my number, before I say goodbye and leave.

I don't know what it is, but I've got this feeling, a feeling I can't shake, nor can I understand, but I feel like something is about to go wrong. Like my happiness will be cut short.

I just hope that's not the case.
