Nurses stood around Rome, asking him questions, most he didn't know the answers to.
His memory only went as far as the day of the wedding.
He remembered mom, but he hadn't met me until the afternoon of the wedding.
He even asked the nurses to get me to leave. My heart was in two pieces.
"Wait! Why is there a baby in my room?"
He said looking at the nurses, and then back and forth between me, and Loreto.
The nurse was about to answer, but I cut her off.
"He's yours."
I said full of sadness, because his eyes didn't seem happy like they should have when I told him the news.
"Mine?"
He says dumbfounded.
"Ours."
I say softly.
"Could you move him to a different room?"
I ask one of the nurses.
She looks at Rome, waiting for him to protest taking Loreto out of his room, but he doesn't. I turn away as I feel the lump in my throat, and the tears falling down my cheeks.
We're moved into a private room. It feels more cold than the last, but that's because Rome's not here.
Mom, and Ronaldo arrive a couple hours later, leaving Kaida to play with Sabrina's kids.
Ronaldo has dark circles around his eyes, I can tell he hasn't slept, and mom has lost more weight in the last 3 days than what's healthy to lose in months.
"How is he? I heard he woke?"
Ronaldo says to me, but as he looks at my swollen wet eyes, he knows something is wrong.
"He doesn't remember me."
I say breaking down into uncontrollable sobs. Mom wraps her arms around me, to comfort me, but it doesn't work.
"How doesn't he remember you?"
Ronaldo says confused.
"He has memory loss, he can only remember up until your wedding day, the morning of it."
I manage.
"He's his son. I told him, and he looked at me horrified."
Ronaldo walks over to Loreto, and smiles.
"He's_he's my grandson?"
He asks proudly. I nod and hand him the DNA test.
...
"Son."
My dad says walking into my room.
I give him a half smile.
"How are you feeling?"
He asks taking a seat on the chair beside my bed.
"Honestly, I don't know."
I sigh, bringing my hand to my forehead. Today has been confusing to say the least.
"The nurses say you've lost over 11 years worth of memories."
I nod, although it all sounds so surreal.
I caught a glimpse at my reflection earlier, and I freaked out. I didn't look how I thought I looked only yesterday. The nurse had to sedate me, to calm me down.
"That's what they say. It's hard to actually believe it though. It's like I'm being told I'm going crazy."
"Rome, maybe you should get away. Maybe that way you won't feel so crazy. You should live your life."
One question runs through my mind, and only one person can give me an honest answer.
"Dad?"
I whisper.
"Yes?"
He says softly tilting his head.
"Who was that woman? The one who acted like she knew me? She said I have a son?"
I see my dad thinking. Like he's afraid to tell me.
"She's Bree's daughter."
He simply says.
"You met a couple of times."
He shrugs.
"As far as the kid, he's definitely not yours."
He shakes his head.
I nod my head.
"I must have heard it wrong."
I mutter.
"She really is beautiful."
I say closing my eyes, drifting off to sleep.
