James entered the palace with Diana in his arms. She had fallen asleep meanwhile and her poor heartbeat tortured him along the way. Constantine came to receive him and widened his eyes when he saw him carrying a person. Obviously, it wasn't a victim for he wouldn't carry a victim that tenderly. He knew it was Diana rolled in that blanket.

"What have you done?" He asked his master.

"What did you want me to do? Leave her there?" James defied Constantine. That moment nothing would stand in the way, nothing! "Call the doctor." James ordered then.

"He is not available." Constantine told him. James turned around with angry eyes.

"Call the other." He ordered.

"Master..." Constantine approached him. "The other went to London where the plague is out of hand." He tried to explain.

James's eyes turned bright green as he raged. "THEN FIND ANOTHER ONE!" He yelled at the top of his lungs waking up Diana. "Find another one who can cure her!"

Constantine realized James was more desperate than ever, maybe he had underestimated the love that vampire could feel. He saw now how much James wanted her to be alive. He saw all desperate mirrored in his angry eyes.

"There is only one medicine available and Diana is taking it. She told me so..." Constantine explained.

James looked at Constantine helpless. He didn't know the details, he didn't have to know anything about diseases, he didn't catch them. "Prepare her old room." He ordered putting her on the couch. "Tomorrow grab all her things in her old house." He said.

"I want to stay with you." She whispered. James looked at her. "In the dungeon..." Her voice was weak and that made his despair even more.

"That is nonsense!" Constantine exclaimed.

"Father... I am dying..." She said. James closed his eyes hearing her words and clenched his fists.

"Don't say that." He begged looking at her.

"But no one can go there during the day..." Constantine argued for he wanted to check on her.

"No one has to go there." Diana said. "I have everything I need in there." She spoke with difficulty.

"Ok..." Constantine ended up nodding. If that's what she wanted he would not stand in the way that time. That time it would be her choice. Things would be done as it always should have been done, by hearing her.

James grabbed her again and began his way downstairs. For the first time he'd have a woman to sleep in there, though he had had the great surprise to wake up a few days before with Diana by his side. Constantine followed in silence and watched how someone he didn't consider a human being put his daughter in bed and then took care of her so gently until she was comfortable. He witnessed with his very own eyes the love they shared, and it broke his heart to not have acknowledge that sooner.

"I'll be right back." He said kissing her forehead. He didn't care Constantine was watching, she was his now. She was his lover. She was his wife if they'd preferred that way.

He turned around a signaled Constantine to leave the bedroom. The man did so confident that James would take care of her dutifully, and James closed the door behind him.

"Go find a doctor." He ordered again.

Constantine placed a hand on his shoulder. The pain emanating from James's eyes was dreadful and he could only be sympathetic with him. No one wanted to save Diana more than himself, but then staring at James he realized maybe there was someone as desperate as he was. The master was desperate to save her. He had never seen so much pain emanating from his eyes. He had never seen him so lost, not even when Diana went to India and he had fell profoundly that time.
