"He brought the trial sooner." Lars stated walking around the room. Hands behind his back and head bent down. He too was sad. Despite the decision not to get involved, James was his best friend and Sire and he felt for him.

"I am going there." Diana said. Angela caught her hand with hers and patted it.

"Do you think that is necessary? Diana...we all know how it's going to end..."

"I know..." She looked at Angela with tears floating in her sad blue glare. "...but I can't just leave him there alone." Her voice trembled in the end.

"We are all going." Lars said.

"There's nothing we can do. He always taught us who to fight and not but at least he can see we are there for him."

"Lars..." Angela went to him and placed both hands on his chest. She knew her lover was suffering with the loss of his friend.

"I want to go." He said. Angela ended up nodding. She would agree with anything he'd decide. Just like Diana also Angela shared an immeasurable love with Lars.

"We better hurry then." Diana got up playing the strong one when she was tearing in pieces inside.

She felt all her insides freezing and cracking slowly. Emptiness filled her ever since James had left her daily life. As days went by it was being harder for her and it had only been four days. She had questioned eternity during the day when she couldn't sleep. She had questioned herself while walking around in her bedroom if she could face eternity without him when four days were already devastating. There was not confusion in her head. When answering to all her question the answer would always be no.

"Are you alright?" Angela caught her arm seeing her friend so pale and restless.

"I haven't slept." Diana confessed.

"A restless vampire is not a strong vampire." Angela said.

Diana softly smiled. "He always said that." She caught herself talking about him in the past and it hurt her so. "But I couldn't close my eyes and sleep as if my life is perfect. It's not... it's far from it right now. It all seems like a nightmare from which I know I will never wake up. No... I will never wake up from this because my life doesn't exist without him."

"Don't talk like that." The other pleaded. Angela looked in Diana's eyes. "He wants you to be alright. He wants you to continue."

"I will never be alright without him. Never Angela." Tears fell down from her face and her body shook. Diana sat back on the chair and sobbed a little louder. Angela crouched in front of her and held her hands in hers in silence and Lars came to pat her back.

"Remember what you promised him Diana." Lars reinforced knowing she was giving in. The pain was being stronger. She had lost her will to go on.

"I didn't promise him anything." She said looking up. Then she cleaned her eyes and got up again. "Now let's go. I don't want to be late. He must see me when he walks in that room."

The three of them caught a carriage on the street. Lars was the one giving the man orders according to Diana's instructions. None dared to talk on that moment, the couple simply watched Diana while she vaguely looked outside. Her eyes were so distant on that moment none would guess what she was thinking about. She had lost her joy, that was so clear to them both. Lars and Angela shared a glare of complicity and then their heads turned to Diana again. Angela decided to distract her.

"Did you feed?" She asked. Diana shook her head.

"No... what for? There's no need..."

"Because you need it to live." Lars stated. Diana looked at him for brief instants and then looked away without saying anything. "I don't know what you are feeling... it must be really hard..."
