Seven months later...

Diana stood up as the priest asked them too. Her heavy belly making her unbalance, but Jack's hand kept her still. Her kidneys and lower back were hurting. They exchanged a glance of complicity and smiled at each other. Julia watched them by the corner of her eye. They seemed to have a steady marriage. They all looked back at the priest on the Sunday service. As good Christians they attend all services. The whole village did. They had to; it was God's call.

"Now to finish this service, I'd like to share some bad news." Father Armand said. A little murmur began to be heard inside the church. Heads turning to the person by their side whispering in each other's ears, wondering what this news was. Jack and Diana said nothing, only shared a questioning look.

"Some months ago we caught a creature. It had the form of a human, talked like a human but it was not human. It was a creature of the devil that burned as the sun rose." Diana took a hand to her mouth horrified.

"My God..." She whispered. Jack tensed at the news. Who could that have been? Deeply he was expecting to be James.

"He was caught one night trying to murder a girl in the forest. We heard the screams and a group of men went there. We kept it a secret for we knew this creature wasn't human. He was cold. HE WAS A BLOOD SUCKER!" The priest yelled in the end. Diana was trembling by then. James was in danger.

No one reacted, everyone was shocked. Diana felt a little dizzy. Who could that have been? She wrote to Angela but she never said a word about James, maybe because he forbidden her to do so and she knew she was bound to obey him. She and her friend have even met and she never talked about him, but Diana understood. No it could not be James... That Angela would tell her. If anything that bad happened to him, she would tell her. James was from town, what if he had come back? Constantine would have told her... she shook the thought away. What if he didn't want to tell not to stir her love for him up? She felt her heart beating faster and gasped for air. No... she tried to remain calm. Someone would tell her if something that bad had happened to James.

"Before he died he said there were more like him...we must hunt them and terminate them!" The priest said decided.

People in church began to yell in support with fists in the air. That couldn't be, even if it wasn't James and he wanted to come back one day now he couldn't, for he would be discovered quite soon. She elbowed Jack gently.

"Jack..." She called his name in a whisper. Jack looked at her. "You need to find out who this creature was." She asked.

His eyes dismayed that moment. He knew she was concerned of who that vampire was. It was like a hammer on his head to find out that very moment she still thought about him and cared for him, even if they have been so happy together. Jack looked away at the priest without saying a word. His eyes filled with tears but she didn't notice and he prayed it really had been him being caught.

"Please..." She begged still whispering. His head turned to her rapidly.

"Enough!" He said in between teeth enraged. "I cannot believe you!"

"Please." She insisted and he shut up. They locked eyes and after a few seconds Jack looked at the priest.

"I'm sorry to interrupt..." He said aloud.

"Yes, Mr. Byron." The priest consented with a nod of his head.

"Was this creature someone we knew? I mean someone from here, of our relations sir?"

"I don't think so..." The priest shook his head. "He had a Scottish accent, orange hair. I've never seen him before." Diana's heart jumped in relief and in joy, but she knew who that man was.
