He didn't know how many hours have passed but he was unable to sleep. Unlike the myths circulating vampires needed to sleep. They also felt tired and James was feeling exhausted, still Sylvia's words didn't let him shut his eyes. He sat on the couch on a corner of their bedroom and stared at Diana's figure while she slept oblivious to the terror that was in his head. She was lied on her stomach, just part of her legs covered, and the sheet pulled until her waist. Her golden locks spread over her pillow and she breathed softly. His eyes blurred as he balanced his body back and forward impatiently. James thought of ways to let her know the truth. Diana had to know about it, but he feared so much her reaction.

They had committed a crime in vampire's law. Vampires could only mate with vampires and they had maintained a relationship for quite some time. Since when being in love can be considered a crime? That was too much... Megan being attacked was too much to take. He couldn't allow anything to happen to her ,after everything they have done to protect her they would not let Sylvia, or anyone come near her. He stared at Diana again. He could not tell her, or should he tell her. James tangled his fingers in his hair and bend his head down. Meanwhile Diana stirred in her sleep, an arm fell on his place and immediately she opened her eyes. She tapped the bed by her side gently and then she raised her head.

"James?" She called in her sweet tone. James raised his head but didn't say a thing. She was looking around the room and then she found him in the dark corner. "What are you doing?" She asked sitting on the bed.

"I can't sleep." He said trying to sound normal. Diana curled an eyebrow and lighted the candle by her bedside table.

"What's the matter with you?" She asked. James looked away. Diana knew him well and she recognized every sign of his body.

"Nothing. Go back to sleep." He forced a soft smile. Diana stared at him for a few seconds and then got out of the bed, kneeling in front of him.

"Something is bothering you." She said. "I thought it was because of what I done but it should be gone by now. Something happened."

"Please Diana..." He whispered and shook his head. Diana held his hands and felt them shaking again.

"You chose me as your mate..." She said. "Talk to me. There is nothing we can't talk to each other James. Please... talk to me." James didn't move or said anything. She left one of his hands and took it under his chin and pulled his face up. "What's wrong? You came back from the street so nervous."

"You had disappeared!" He insisted.

"It's not just that. I know it's not. I've never seen you like this. Even when you were making love to me I felt you disquieted."

He looked in her eyes for a moment. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. James got up and pulled her up too and then guided her back to bed. They sat on it and she looked in his eyes waiting.

"You should rest." He said much to her dismay.

She frowned a bit not understanding his behavior. "So, should you. Look at you... you look exhausted. You haven't slept at all, have you?

"I'm not sleepy." He said.

"You need to rest!" She said promptly. "What is wrong with you? Tell me..." Diana insisted.

James looked away. "James?" She asked. He looked at her but still said nothing. "What's the matter? I know something is going on...I know you..."

He took a hand to her face and caressed it. A forced smile appeared on his lips. "It's nothing, really."

"Seriously?" She looked in his eyes. He hated to lie to her, so he looked away unable to cope with her stare. Diana grabbed his jaw and pulled his face back to look at her. "You don't want to tell me?"
