“But I don’t want to go to Paris, mum. I want to go to London, meet John and know what he needs to tell me!” I yelled at my mother,

“Well, Gwen, we’ve booked Paris and we’re going to Paris.” She yelled back. It was Saturday night and my mum wanted me to tell her whether I wanted to go to Paris or not, I kept telling her no but she wouldn’t have it. I wanted to meet John Green in London but nope, she wasn’t having that.

“Screw Paris, mum. London will be easier, plus I know the god damn city and won’t think someone is gonna climb through my window and kidnap me in a foreign freakin’ country!” I yelled, pissed.

“Stop saying freakin’!”

“No!”

“Gwen.”

“I don’t see why you can’t just let me go to London!”

“Because you will be alone!”

“No I freakin’ won’t! Can you not hear me saying John Green! And a friend!”

“Gwen, this is stupid. Stop it now.”

“I’ll take that as a no you can’t hear me saying I’ll be with a god damn famous author!” I stamped my foot. There was no way she was winning this. “I. Don’t. Want. To. Go. To. Freakin’. Paris.”

“Gwen.” My mum sighed. “Why are you doing this?”

“Okay, compromise. If I go to Paris, you have to take me to Disneyland.” I reasoned. My mother threw her hands up in the air and made an irritated sound. “Well, it’s either that or I only go to London.”

“Gwen Lacey Max Oswin you will come to Paris with your family whether you like it or not.”

“Don’t go using my middle names on me, I have a choice. You were giving me a choice and this is what I’m choosing.” I crossed my arms and put a smug face on. She did give me a choice after all.

My dad piped up then, “She’s right, you did give her a choice.” My mother stared at my father like she was about to burst a vein, then she sighed.

“Alright, Gwen, I did give you a choice and this is obviously what you want to do.” I nodded, happy. “When’s Kacie coming?” my mother added.

“Tomorrow at 10.” I answered, my mother nodded. My mum walked into the lounge then and I was left in the kitchen with my dad. He was sat at the kitchen table with his newspaper and a glass of wine.

“So, if we don’t have a dog anymore, does that mean I get my beanbag back?”

Honestly can’t wait!

Kacie and I were texting about tomorrow, although it was probably today because it was like 1 in the morning.

I know, but you’ve already met John, what’s there left to be excited about?

This new deal! Duh!

Oh, right, yeah course. I wonder what it is.

What did he tell you exactly?

He told me that it was important and nothing else. It’s probably something about the media wanting me to write another book.

I doubt it. If it was something like that he would’ve told you to bring your laptop or something.

Oh yeah.

Geez Gwen, I thought you were smart.

Thanks Kacie, good to know you think I’m smart.

Sarcasm?

Sarcasm.

This is like a new version of the Fault in Our Stars.

Yeah, the Fault in Our Humour. I burst out laughing, but quietly because it was the middle of the night.

And the best thing is we’re going to see the author!

Ha-ha!

Kacie’s car pulled up in the drive just as I plonked my suitcase into my dad’s cars boot. “Hey!” I greeted as she got out the car. “Want some help with that?” I asked as she walked to the boot.

“Alright.” She replied, obviously happy. “I have to admit, I thought I’d of seen Athena by now.” My face melted like an icicle and I stopped in the middle of lifting her suitcase out of her dads trunk.

“Ah, yes.” I finished getting it out and stood straight, “Would you rather I break it to you bluntly or subtly?”

“Blunt, spill.”

“Athena died on Friday.” Kacie looked shocked, “Of a heart attack.”

“Oh my god Gwen!” her hands went to her mouth, “I’m so sorry. Are you alright?”

“Yeah, I suppose.” She hugged me and I just stood there awkwardly. Yep, that’s me.

Kacie let go of me but looked pitiful. “Oh come on, we’re going to London. Let’s be happy! Happy, happy, happy!”

“Alright.” Kacie replied, lightly. We carried her stuff over to the car and my dad signalled for us to get in.

Kacie climbed in first and went right to the end and then I got in the middle. “Mum, can you?” my mum chucked my bed cover to me and stopped me mid-sentence.

“You’re bringing your duvet?” she joked. I looked at her seriously.

“Yeah! It’s like a 3 hour trip to London. Plus we’re gonna stay at my old house for the night so we need stuff to take.” I answered, enthusiastically. Although she didn’t look so enthusiastic. “Plus we can sleep.”

“Well, I can tell this is going to be a fun holiday.”

“Oh yeah, you’re stuck with me for an entire week. Who’d want more?” Kacie groaned loudly.

I smiled and watched as she rolled her eyes at me. “Alright guys?” my dad asked from the front seat. Everyone was in the car now and ready to go, “Then to London it is.”

Sorry I haven't updated. Been busy with school. Sweet Charity, homework, my own shiz and stuff like that. Sweet Charity is next week! Getting a little excited now! If you live in Exeter or the surrounding areas come see it! Should be amazing!
