“You sly little fox.” I cursed, waving my finger in Johns face. How could he plan something as big as this and not tell me immediately. He held his hands up in defeat. Kacie pulled me back, “It can’t be that bad.” She countered.
“Bad?” I replied, shocked, “Bad? This is…” I struggled finding the right words, “Amazing!” I yelled suddenly making Kacie jump. I turned to John, “And not totally wanted.”
Kacie sighed irritably, “What is it exactly?!” she yelled at me. We must’ve looked like idiots just randomly screaming at each other in the middle of London, great. “Gwen?” Kacie asked.
I opened my mouth to reply, “A,”
--
“Movie contract.” Nikki, my agent, said shuffling some papers behind her desk.
We all sat around the desk, John looking ecstatic, Kacie sitting bolt upright stunned and me with the most infuriating face I could muster, how could he not of told me sooner?! “A movie contract.” John repeated smiling happily.
“Indeed.” I replied.
“A movie contract.” Kacie also repeated.
“For my book, this is just-.” I started.
“Glorious.” John finished with a dramatic clap of his hands. Kacie sat in between us and I had to lean out to look at his face.
“Going to end badly.” I finished, glaring at the author. He shrugged at me and mouthed ‘what?’. All through it Nikki sat neutrally behind her desk watching our petty babbling. I turned back to her and she slid a piece of paper over to me, “All we need is your signature.” She explained tapping the dotted line. I sighed, “Can I have some time to think about this?” I heard Johns sounds of objection but ignored him and focused on Nikki.
She glanced at John, “Yes, of course.” She answered back to me. John sighed deeply. What? This isn’t the kind of thing you get offered everyday. “We’ve included all the things you asked for.” She added.
I glared at John, “Really? How intriguing.” I sarcastically shot at Greens guilty face. He shrugged again, does he even know how maddening that is?!
“I knew you and you’re friends were passionate about acting, so I included them in the contract. They get to play the parts of the people based on them.” He explained, finally something that made sense. I lifted my eyebrows out of a frown. This definitely lightened my mood.
“Well, that is… quite awesome actually.” I answered kind of relieved. “Really brilliant.”
“And you of course, Gwen, will be able to play whichever part you would like to.” John added. One part came to mind immediately, I smiled evilly.
Kacie shook her head and seemed to awaken from her reverie, “What’s happening?” she half yawned.
“Tired?” I asked gesturing her head.
“A little.”
“Let’s go back to the hotel then.” I commented standing up. Nikki stood up and I shook my hand. “It was nice to meet you and I shall have my answer by tomorrow.” She smiled at me as I lifted up the contract. As I turned to go I asked one more question. “Will I be able to choose some actors for the parts?” Nikki smiled again.
“John thought you might ask that, it’s included in the contract.” She answered, nodding towards the sheet of paper in my hand.
“Well then, it was very nice to meet you and I shall see you tomorrow.” I waved goodbye as we walked towards the door. This turned out pretty good.
--
We got into the car and did our seat belts, this time John was in the front with the driver, “So, are you gonna sign it?” Kacie asked intrigued. John turned to face me expectantly.
“That is for me to know and you to find out.” I said stubbornly. I didn’t even know myself. I looked out the window as we drove out the parking lot. Tomorrow is going to be a very long day, I thought to myself.
--
I sat at the table and tapped my pen hard on the table top. “If you hit that pen on the table anymore you’re gonna go straight through it.” Kacie pointed out. I dropped the pen and clasped my hands on the table. The contract lay in front of me with a list of names next to it, “Got any people you want to star in it?” I nodded. She picked up the list, “Josh Hutcherson as Sebastian, Scarlett Johansson as Athena, John Malkovich as Poseidon, Chris Hemsworth as Odysseus, Saoirse Ronan as Artemis, Tom Hiddleston as Apollo, John Hurt as Zeus, Helen Mirren as Hestia and Liana Liberato as Cassnadra. Is this all you’ve got?” I nodded again, “It’s not much, what about all the rest?”
“Well, I kind of want Liam Neeson and Evangeline Lilly in there too but I don’t know who to cast them as.” I replied truthfully. Kacie nodded seemingly understanding my problem, “I can help if you want?” she asked helpfully. I nodded vigorously, “Yes please!”
--
We sat at the table shooting different ideas for actors and actresses for Ripped Apart but we just ended up with a list of people we wanted in the movie but couldn’t place. “God damn it!” I yelled banging my head on the table, “This is so difficult!”
“Calm down,” Kacie comforted patting my shoulder. “We can figure it out.”
“How?” I shot at her, “Do we just put Benedict Cumberbatch in there as a random dude photobombing in the background?!” I then realised what I had said sounding terrifically hilarious. “No wait!” I shouted slamming my hand on the table, “Shakespeare.”
“You wanna cast Benedict Cumberbatch as Shakespeare?!” Kacie exclaimed. I nodded and smiled at her.
“It’s perfect! Besides, it’ll be funny to see him try and live up to the playwright.” I explained, “Plus he’s acting in Hamlet next year, which I’m going to see with Izzy, and so he’ll have a bit of Shakespeare experience, it’s perfect.” Kacie nodded but still seemed a bit unsure. Either way she scribbled it down on my cast list.
“Now we still have: Liam Neeson, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom and… Miranda Hart?” Kacie looked up from the list, “Miranda Hart?” she asked sceptically,
“Yeah, why not?”
“I don’t think you should.”
“I suppose not.” I agreed, Kacie scribbled the name out. I clicked my fingers making Kacie jump, “Ares and Demeter.” It took a second or too but Kacie clicked, “Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly.” She finished. She wrote it down, “But we still have Liam Neeson.” Kacie and I looked at each other, “Leave him for later.” We replied at the same time. Then we just burst out laughing.
“I swear we just had a light bulb moment.” I laughed, Kacie nodded in agreement. There we go, the list is done now I can finally sleep.
I stood up and stretched my back, “Goodnight.” I murmured sleepily. It was like 10pm. Kacie said goodnight back.
“Wait,” she stopped me. “Are you going to sign it?” she asked pointing at the contract. I stared at it for a few minutes then picked the pen up.
John was going to be over the moon and straight up to fucking Jupiter when he found out in the morning.
Here you guys go! I had fun writing this chapter. But I had more fun writing the next one 'evil face'. Enjoy! Keep reading/voting!
