She nodded her slowly with her eyes closed as she curled into herself a little on the bed. I moved closer to my mate. Making my way around the bed and sitting in the chair I had previously been sitting in. I gently started to run my hand up the length of her arm. I purred aloud when she didn't shift away from my touch. I wasn't quite sure whether I was soothing her or myself but I knew that I wasn't going to stop.
Her head lolled slightly in my direction and her breathing evened out. Her body shivered and shifted closer to me. It took all my restraint not to lay down next to her and gather her in my arms. She whimpered in her sleep and clutched her belly with her small hands. I rose silently from the chair and sat on the side of the larger than average hospital bed.
I lightly move her hands away from her stomach and replace it with one of mine gently rubbing it back and forth. A soft sigh escapes her plump lips at my movements, making my tense muscle relax somewhat. It brought me comfort that the mate bond was affecting her even if it was when she was unconscious. I thought back to her reaction when Teresa had entered the room...
Darting around the bed with a look of complete terror, practically gasping for air. Her bright blue eyes fixated on Teresa's white hospital lab coat. Her eyes glazed over before sinking to the ground trembling. Jasper was growling loudly in my head, I made a conscious effort to stay a conservative distant from her to not frighten her further. It lasted a few minutes before her eyes cleared and she blinked up at me...
I had to force myself not to grin when she leaned away from Teresa and in my direction before declaring she'd prefer my touch to hers. I didn't fail to notice her look of apprehension after being addressed as Alpha, but she nodded her head at me to continue anyways. Once I got the breathing tube around her ears she visibly relaxed sinking further into the mattress with her eyes closed, breathing heavily.
She flinched when I grabbed her arm while her eyes were closed. But relaxed quickly realizing it was still me. I listened carefully to the pack doctor's instruction about the angle of insertion on the needle. I did it as smoothly as possible but she still winced until my hands. The prospect of hurting my mate had me growling low in my throat. I glanced down at her and saw a look of complete bewilderment before she moved her eyes quickly to Teresa and then away again...
Jasper was snarling in my mind when she spat own the word Luna like it was poison. My mind reeled at her response. I paused thinking back to her reaction to my growling and her oblivious attitude towards the words alpha and mate. She doesn't know what she is. I thought sadly. Jasper whimpered when she nodded in an affirmation about the term Luna being unfamiliar. I asked him if he felt her inner wolf calling out to us. He howled in despair and growled out a no.
She's not shifted yet., but every wolf's first shift is when they're 16. She doesn't look that young. My thoughts were interrupted by her moaning in her sleep. Her head had turned away from me on the pillow and a frown overtook her features. I kept my right hand on her stomach and moved my other cupping her cheek. Moving my thumb to brush out her creased forehead. She leaned into my hand and started to mumble.
"Please, stop, please, no." My jaw clenched at hearing her soft pleas. I retracted my hand from her face and placed it on her shoulder to try to rouse her. But before I could wake her up her eyes shot open and she whipped her head to the door and stared at it with disgust. I withdrew my hands from her and quickly rose from the bed giving her some distance.
My hands curled into fists and my inner wolf growling with the effort of giving her space. All I wanted to do was push my nose into the crook of her neck and breathe in her intoxicating scent until I couldn't hold a single thought in my head any longer. She turned away from the door and wrapped her arms around her stomach and brought her knees up for extra protection.
