She sat beside me on the couch looking up at me with her big blue doe eyes waiting for me to start.
"I am Alexander kadens, Alpha of the First Descendant Pack- Alpha is a position of power, it means the leader and Collin is my Beta, my second in command and Dylan here, is my Gamma or third in command. The Blood Moon Pack is a group of werewolves..." Her eyebrows were furrowed. I paused for a second to see if she was going to speak but she just continued to stare up at me with those intoxicating doe eyes.
"That's why my eyes change, it happens when my inner wolf is trying to take over. When you told me what you did at the hospital it made both of us... agitated. I needed to shift into my wolf to blow off some steam, that's why I left, but when you ran outside I had already shifted and that's what you saw." I spoke as soothing as I could, hoping not to scare her. To my irritation, she shifted her gaze to Dylan who smiled and nodded before interjecting. His brown eyes lit up with enthusiasm as he spoke.
"When Alexander saw your feet all cut up and bleeding it made his inner wolf angry. Not at you! But at himself for letting that happen to you." Jasper clawed at the barrier of my mind with a snarl. A growl made its way from my chest, he was talking to what was mine. I fought the urge to pull her into my side.
"See! His eyes are changing like that because his inner wolf doesn't like another male talking to his mate." He said laughing to himself. She just turned back to me with a confused expression.
"Mate?" She spoke hesitantly as if she were unsure whether to speak. The word alone made my body shake as I forced myself not to purr.
Nodding I answered, "every wolf is given a mate, a person you're meant to love and care for you. You feel a bond with them. Your inner wolf will tell you when you've met your mate. You're drawn to them. Their scent, their eyes, their touch is almost electrifying."
I gingerly reached out and brushed my hand against hers feeling the pleasurable sparks ignite at our touch. She flinched at the contact but didn't move away. Her hair waved back and forth as her head shook from side to side. Her eyes flickered from my hand to my face analyzing it for deception. Before jerking her hand away and standing up.
"You lie, I'm not a...a werewolf!" She stuttered her breathing picking up again.
"I'm not lying to you, depending on the clan most wolves shift for the first time when they're sixteen. You don't look that young, are you?" She shook her head hurriedly, her chest heaving. "You must be a late bloomer but from what the pack doctor told me and from what my inner wolf can sense yours is awakening and you will shift soon."
"No! no. Please, stop it. I don't want to." She stumbled backwards into Collin's knees before lurching away from him.
It made my heart ache to hear her say such things, but I could understand how impossible it all must sound."I can't stop it and you'll feel better, stronger after you shift." I clenched my hands together in an effort not to rise and hold her close but I knew she wasn't ready.
"What's a Luna?" She questioned accusingly her doe-eyed stare piercing into my own
"Luna is another title of power, a Luna is the Alphas mate. She completes the pack and runs it along with the Alpha. Packs without Luna's are more likely to fall."
Dylan chuckled mumbling, "No pressure."
Collin scoffed, elbowing him in the stomach. Making her flinch and myself to finally stand up and walk towards them.
"Leave," I said my Alpha voice in full effect. They promptly sprung from their seats, barring their necks and scurrying out the patio door.
"Are you hungry mate?" I was standing in front of her now. Her hospital white gown was wrinkled and smeared with dirt. She looked intently at the floor, avoiding my gaze. Her silky curls shielded her face like a curtain. At my question, she looked up at me through her eyelashes and said a quiet 'yes.'
