Third Person

Virgil sat on his weak, cheap bed in the orphanage staring out into the starry night sky. His legs were huddled up against his chest as his eyes followed ghostly spirits that swam and swarmed in the night time.

Virgil was one of many supernatural, or powerful, humans that had some sort of power. His was seeing, hearing, sensing, and the ability to talk to ghosts. He spent the majority of his days, before roommates, talking and talking to ghosts who haunted the orphanage. He made close friends with the spirits but even all spirits died out.

Currently, Virgil shares a room with 3 others. In the past, he was locked up in a small room because of his past. Being treated like a freak was his normal. Virgil was one of the first kids in the orphanage to show that he has powers. Virgil had reassured kids for many years, telling them their dead parents love them until the caregiver pulled him away and threw him back in the room. Virgil spent most of his life tired, afraid, and sad. He constantly cried. He barely slept. Dark bags traced his under eyes and streaks of past tears stained his cheeks. Virgil has gotten better with his crying, but he still gets barely enough sleep to consider it "healthy".

"Is it the stars or the millions of ghosts out tonight that has gotten you so... quiet?" one of Virgil's roommates asked. Virgil's glare fell down from the sky and turned to see Roman, sitting at the foot of the bed. Roman was the second roommate to join Virgil. Roman was a very loud, flamboyant, and creative individual, with the power to summon anything. Virgil shrugged as Roman placed a hand on Virgil's shoulder.

"Look, I know you probably miss them-" Roman started but Virgil cut him off,

"Of course I miss them." Virgil snapped. Roman sighed,

"But he is your only family now, and you have to love him, acknowledge him, at least look at him," Roman said, gesturing to a small ball of a human sitting in a corner. Virgil's eyes soften as he left Roman alone sitting on his bed and crawled up to the curled-up human.

"P-Patton?" Virgil asked. Patton stayed curled up in a ball. Virgil sighed and pulled his sleeves up to his palm.

"Patt? Do you need a hug?" Virgil asked. Patton jumped up and rammed into Virgil, engulfing Virgil in a hug. Patton's snot rubbed into Virgil's hoodie. Virgil hugged back and planted his face in Patton's hair, the smell of the cheap shampoo of the orphanage enticing Virgil's nose. Soon, Virgil felt a warm being engulf him. Virgil smiled up at Roman.
