"What did the witch want?" Bianca asks at lunch. I glance at Allie and Ash laughing about something. "Nothing important." I lie. She eyes me suspiciously. "Promise?" I nod. "Promise."
"Hey Bianca, can we talk?" Anthony asks. Something sparks in Bianca's eyes and she smiles softly. "Of course." They both stand and walk out of the cafeteria. I sigh. Martin chuckles. "You good, Babe?" He asks. I nearly frown at the nickname. He hasn't directly called me that unless we were speaking with the others. Weird.
"Yeah." I say. "Excuse me." Ethan asks from behind us. Ash looks up and glares at him. "Can we help you?" Martin asks coolly. Ethan ignores him. "What, Eth?" I ask without thinking. He smiles slightly at the old nickname. Great. He probably thinks I'm forgiving him.
"Can we talk?" He asks. I frown. Martin's arm slides around my waist and he pulls me onto his lap. Ethan's gaze burns into his arm but I ignore that, instead I glance at Ash. He's doing the same with a frown etched on his face. "I'd appreciate if you left my girlfriend alone." Martin says in an icy tone. Ethan raises an eyebrow.
"Girlfriend?" He asks. I nod slightly. It feels weird pretending to be his girlfriend now. I should probably call it off anyway. It doesn't seem to be making Ash jealous at all.
Ashton's POV
That should be my arm around Charlie's waist. Not that low lifes. "Interesting. Anyway, Char?" Ethan asks. I remove my glare from Martin's arm and look at my partner's ex. "Ethan, we have absolutely nothing to talk about." She says coolly. Her words from this morning slap me in the face.
"We have nothing to talk about."
Is she slow in the brain? Of course we have things to talk about. I kissed her. I cheated on Allie. And she kissed me back. She cheated on Martin. Sure, it was heat of the moment but it doesn't mean I didn't want to kiss her.
I shake my head to clear that last thought. What am I thinking? I look back up but Charlie is already walking away with Ethan. What did I miss? "Baby?" Allie asks. I look at her. "I'll be right back Al. I need the bathroom." I lie. She nods so I stand up and follow the other two.
I hear their voices around the corner and stop. "Ethan you hurt me. I'm not accepting any of your petty apologies!" Charlie says in a bitter tone. I hear a loud sigh. "I'm sorry Cherry. What I did was wrong, yeah. But I got karma for it. The car crash. Remember?" He says. I hear a scoff. Is this dude for real?
"God. What did I ever see in you? You're just a senseless asshole." She spits. Even I wince at that. "I said sorry." He pleads with her. I can imagine her crossing her arms and glaring at him. "Sorry means nothing if you don't actually mean it. Actions speak louder than words, Ethan." She says quietly.
I hope she doesn't forgive this bastard. I glance around the corner at them. Charlie is leaning against the lockers with her arms crossed like I figured. A troubled look crosses her features instead of the glare I thought she'd have. Ethan is standing a few feet in front of her with a frown and tapping his foot impatiently.
"What can I do to prove it?" He asks. A slight glare finally appears. "Not kiss my mother for starters." She bites. Ouch. He rolls his eyes. "That was once." He denies. She scoffs and laughs bitterly. "Only once my ass Ethan. Emily came clean. You went there whenever I wasn't there. Even when I was asleep and my father was working. You disgust me." She sneers.
He frowns and she begins walking away. "Wait! Tell me something first." She stops and faces him. "What?" She asks coolly. He crosses his arms. "Do you really like that Martin dude?" I perk up. She hesitates. I can't see her face since she's facing away from me. Damn it.
