Emily's POV

"Ethan!" I groan. He smirks. "Don't get your panties in a twist, Lil Sis." He says mockingly. I roll my eyes. "You really don't need to try out for football, Eth. I want to go home." I whine. He shrugs. "So go. I'm sure some beautiful young lady will give me a ride." He says, eyeing Claudia as she struts to the field.

I slightly narrow my eyes. "What's going on between you two?" I ask. He just winks and stalks off after her. I frown. I heard bits and pieces of their conversation at lunch, and after hearing Charlotte's name I wasn't too happy.

What I did to my old bestie disgusts even me. It was cruel. Rude. Betraying. Every other bad adjective. I helped my brother cheat on her! I want to renew that old friendship. Although, I doubt she'll forgive me. At least not completely.

I jog over to the field where football and cheer takes place. I notice Charlie's friend with the football players. Ashton I think. And that other boy she was with. The ass who kissed her. They seem to be arguing. I debate walking over to Ethan who's a few feet away from them, talking to the coach. Nah. No need to interrupt.

On the other hand, the idiots Ashton and douchebag look on the verge of hitting one another. I sprint over. "Problem, boys?" I ask, flipping my wavy black hair over my shoulder. "None of your business." Ashton sneers. I frown. "I get you're not a huge fan of me, but I'm trying to redeem myself with Char." I say softly.

"Aren't you the girl who shoved me earlier?" Asshole scowls. I cross my arms and narrow my eyes, landing my famous death glare on the idiot in front of me. "Aren't you the dick who kissed a girl without her consent, even when she was trying to squirm away?" I retort. Rage flashes in Ashton's eyes and he glares at the other dude.

I should really learn his name. "She better not mean Char." He warns. The guy smirks but barely gets a word in before Ashton punches him. I wince and step back. Should I-

Yeah probably, but where's the fun in that?

Charlie's POV

"Why didn't you want to watch practice?" Tony asks. I throw a ball in the air and catch it. "Why'd you skip it?" I reply. Anthony laughs and spins around in his desk chair. I'm currently lounging on his bed in his room because we have nothing better to do. Ash is at football practice, and Bianca had some family thing with her Mom.

"I skipped because you'd be bored without me." He says cockily. I chuckle and sit up. "I'm sure I'd find some sort of entertainment. So, spill the tea sis. What made you ask out Bianca?" I ask. He smiles wistfully. "I had some persuasion from a friend of mine, and got to thinking." He admits. I smirk.

"Sounds like a good friend." I say smugly. He raises an eyebrow and gives me a look. "She is, but she also can't take her own advice." Anthony says. I frown. "And that means?" I ask. He smirks knowingly. "Well, she clearly likes this guy but she refuses to act upon her poorly hidden feelings." He states. I roll my eyes.

"Maybe she doesn't want to act on them for good reason!" I defend. "And what would this reason be, Charlie?" He questions. I fiddle with the hem of my shirt. "Fear of history repeating itself. And, fear of rejection." I admit. Anthony joins me on his bed and frowns. "If we're scared of the outcome all the time, we'd never get anywhere in our life Charlotte." He says quietly.

I shrug. "I guess." I mutter. He smiles and gives me a side hug. "Your choice, but I suggest doing something about it rather than sitting back and waiting for another girl to do so." He says wisely. I groan and fall backwards onto his bed.

---------------------------------------
School the next day is, by far, not my best day. I spend it avoiding Ashton, tripping over my own feet numerous times, accidently bumping into this shy girl with glasses and yelling at Ethan. The jackass won't give up. Usually, I wouldn't mind this amount of persistence in a dude, but I mean come on! He needs a serious reality check.
