"Charlotte!" A girl calls behind me. I halt my conversation with Bianca and turn around. Emily grabs my wrist and begins pulling me to an empty classroom. "Emi-"
"What are you doing, Em?" Ethan asks, blocking our path. Emily stops walking so quickly I nearly trip over her. Bianca catches up to us and sends me a quizzical look. I simply shrug. Emily tenses. "Nothing Eth." She says coolly. I feel her nails dig into my skin and wince. "You aren't doing anything you shouldn't, right?" He presses.
What is going on? "I'm not, Ethan. I just wanted to talk to Charlotte." She mumbles. He smirks wickedly. "Did you now? Last I recall, Charlotte hates us right now, dear sister. Why would she want to talk to you?" He asks. She frowns and looks at me. I clench my fists, remove my hand from her grasp and step in front of her.
"I hate you, Ethan. Not Emily. She's earning my trust back. Slowly, but surely. Unlike you." I spit. He narrows his eyes at me slightly. "She betrayed you as well, Cherry." He sneers. I cross my arms. "Maybe. But she's redeeming herself. We'll be going now." I say in a dead tone.
I grab Bianca and Emily's hand and pull them both along with me. "Emily."
"Charlotte."
"Bianca!" Bi says awkwardly, pointing to herself. We stare at her. She shrugs. I sigh and face Em. "What was that? He seemed threatening." I point out. She fidgets uncomfortably under my gaze. "He was teasing me." She lies. I frown. I want to pry further but it isn't my place, so I drop it.
I'm suddenly pulled backwards into somebody, their arms snaking around my waist and their face buried in my neck. Bianca giggles as Tony walks up as well and pecks her lips. I grin and spin in Ashton's arms. "Hey baby." He murmurs, leaning in for a kiss. I giggle and pull away. "Control yourself, Jones." I tease.
I turn to speak with Emily but she has already disappeared. "What are your plans for later?" Ash asks. I grin. "Going out with the girls. Aka, Bi and your cousin." I say. Audrey and I exchanged numbers when I was over and basically became instant friends. She's pretty chill. Plus, Bianca and Audrey have been friends a while anyway. Since they were children. Even though they aren't technically related, they consider each other sisters.
My boyfriend pouts. "So, you can't spend time with me tonight?" He whines. Bianca steps between us and flicks his forehead. "Let me have my bestie back, Asshole." She says sternly, with a playful grin. Tony chuckles and pulls Bi back into his arms. "No. I'm stealing you and Ash can kidnap Char." He says with a goofy grin.
I giggle. "What about Audrey?" I ask. Ash rolls his eyes. "She isn't getting a boyfriend." He states. I frown. "You let Bianca..."I point out, trailing off. Ashton points at the goofy couple next to us. "Yeah but Anthony is my best friend and I've known him forever. I trust him. I don't have any other guy friends though that she can date. Which means, no boyfriend." He says dryly.
I scoff. "You can't-"
"Yes I can."
"Ash, that doesn't even make se-"
"Doesn't matter. No boys for Drey."
"Babe she-"
"Nope."
"Ashton!"
"Charlotte."
He stares at me with a smug smirk. I groan and cross my arms, glaring up at him. Bi and Tony laugh. "He has a way of irritating people easily." Tony teases. Ashton punches him in a playful manner and Tony strikes back. Bianca and I step back and laugh as the boys continue their banter.
"Boys!" The stern voice of Mrs. Marley scowls. They stop and mutter apologies as the teacher passes. Movement catches my attention to my right and I turn. Martin is slipping through crowds of people in a hurry. Weird.
