Ch 29

I wake up with a weight on my chest that turns out to be Natasha. She starts to shift awake.

"Morning." I rasp rubbing my eyes with one hand.

"Morning." She says softly tracing patterns on my abs with her finger making me involuntary flex them.

"I'm sorry about last night, I didn't mean for you to get worried." I say as I'm looking up at the ceiling.

"So where were you?" She asks sitting up to face me but I don't respond licking my lips.

She then adverts her gaze to the stack of money on the nightstand.

"Oh Y/N." She closes her eyes a hint of disappointment in her voice.

"Don't tell me you went out racing." She sighs and I still don't say anything as I lick my lips.

"You know I don't like you doing that stuff. It's so illegal." She shakes her head.

"Well sorry for doing something I'm passionate about." I say getting out of bed.

"Passionate?" She asks raising an eyebrow.

"Yes! I'm barely an Avenger again. Racing makes me feel I don't know, normal. Before all of this changed my life." I say motioning around.

"Yesterday I caught up with my other friends and they were so glad to see me and happy for me when I told them that I had a girlfriend." I shake my head.

"Madison asked me why I don't bring you along with me for support and cheering me on by the sidelines and when she asked me that my heart hurt a little because I knew you and everyone else wouldn't in a million years go so I just said you thought it was dangerous and brushed it off." I chuckle trying not to seem hurt.

"I don't want you to go out and not come back from a night of racing. It is dangerous." She says.

"I've done it for years and I've gotten pretty damn good at it. Not that you would know." I tell her and she looks surprised at my response.

"I don't know what I have to be for you to be by my side. An unproblematic scientist that turns into a big Brussels sprout? That's not me. But I'm glad I have friends like Mads and Keem by my side who just accept me for who I am and I don't have to beg them for some attention." I say then go to my bathroom for a shower.

Natasha sighs in bed closing her eyes putting her face in her hands. She feels bad and wants to fix things with her girlfriend. She hears the shower start to run and gets out of bed planning on joining Y/N as a start to making it up to her. As she tries to open the bathroom door she finds it locked making her face fall and heart drop.

I'm in the shower trying to wash all my frustrations away which hasn't really gotten me anywhere. I locked the door something I rarely do but I just needed time to myself and reflect.

When I'm done I dry myself off wrapping a towel around my body and go to my bedroom finding it empty meaning Natasha has left. I changed into some workout clothes and go to the weight room not bothering to eat breakfast. I put my ear buds in and start my workout. A little while in I get a phone call.

"Hello?" I answer breathing heavily stopping my push ups.

"Hey Apex."

"Hey Mads what's up?"

"I was making sure you weren't dead."

"*chuckle then sigh* No I'm not dead."

"Buut?"

"Well we kinda had an argument about where I was last night." I say getting a drink of water.

"Oh no what happened?"

"She asked me where I was and when she found out I went racing she wasn't happy."

"How bad did it get?"

"I kinda of ranted on how I feel neglected by her and how I feel like she doesn't want to support me in this racing lifestyle."

"How did it end?"

"I just went off to the bathroom to shower."

"Oh you big oaf."

"Excuse me?"

"You needed to talk it out not walk away. You basically added gas to the flames."

"Well what do I do now Dr.Phil?"

"Keep on with your little jokes and you won't get my help."

"Ugh fine what can I do to fix this Mads?"

"I don't know."

I groan.

"*laughs* Just apologize for your behavior and communicate with her."

"You think that'll work?"

"I mean it's a start and don't get mad, stay calm and let her explain her side of the situation."

"*sighs* Alright I'll talk to you later Mads."

"Later Apex and good luck. Call me if you need anything."
