5 Days Later

I came back to New York like 2 days ago but I've been staying in a hotel not wanting to face anyone right now. Knowing Tony was keeping tabs on me so I asked Clint to cover for me and tell him I was still in Missouri because if he knew I was in the city he would look for me immediately.

I was now walking through the streets munching on a hot dog when my phone rings.

"Hello?" I answer the phone chewing.

"Apex."

I swallow confused.

"Maria?"

"Yes, we need you here in New York now."

"As far as I'm concerned I don't work for SHIELD and I'm not an Avenger." I say referring back to when I walked into SHIELD a long time ago.

"Look we heard what happened in Russia but we need you and if you still have plans on becoming an Avenger again then you might want to do this."

"*sighs* Fine I'm in."

"Great how far out are you?"

I look up at the SHIELD building in the distance.

"Not that far."

I sneak into SHIELD because I don't need another incident like last time to happen.

"Alright I'm here what's the problem?" I ask going into the Fury's office to see him and Maria.

He tosses me my morpher.

"How'd you get this?" I ask confused putting it around my wrist.

"I walked in and took it." Fury says with a careless shrug.

"Where are the others?" I ask looking around.

"They're coming back from another mission they won't make it back in time." Maria says.

"So what do you want me to?" I ask confused.

"There's a bomb in the center of town, it can easily destroy the whole city. The bomb squad is trying to defuse it but it's not working. The clock is ticking so they called us." Maria fills me in.

"We think it's best if you to take the bomb and plummet it as far down in the ocean as possible." Fury says.

"The ocean? That can still cause damage." I shake my head.

"Then what do you suggest?" He asks and I take a second then look up out the window.

"I'll go up in the sky as far as I can, till the last second." I nod determined.

"Apex that's a one way trip." Maria says seriously making me take a deep breath.

"Then tell Uncle Tony I'm sorry and tell Natasha, I love her." I say then run out the building.

I suit up as I get outside.

"Hey Har-

"You're not supposed to be wearing the suit." He immediately says.

"I know but they need me." I say and he sighs.

I run to the center of town where the bomb squad was trying to defuse it.

"Excuse me, excuse me." I say running through the crowd and they start to notice me.

"Is that Apex!" "Apex is back!" "She's back!"

I jump over the police tape and make my way over to the bomb.

"Yoink." I say as I take it and immediately blast off up towards the sky.
