Ch 18

Next Morning

I wake up early and go down to the gym to workout. It was going good and now I was hitting a speed bag.

The door opens but I don't acknowledge it focused on the speed bag in front of me.

"Why am I not surprised." I hear making me hesitantly slow down before I come to a full stop.

I turn around to see Fury, Hill and Natasha.

"Welcome back Apex." He nods.

"Fury, Hill, Nat." I nod to each of them respectfully.

"What are you guys doing here?" I ask referring to Fury and Hill.

"Well when we received the news that you were back to your old self, we had to come see for ourselves." He says with his hands behind his back.

"Yeah I'm back. Ready to get back to work." I say turning back to focus on the speed bag once again.

"You need recovery time Apex." He says and my jaw clenches as I'm hitting the bag.

"If you just came to slow me down you know where the door is." I say not bothering to speak his way.

"Apex you can't just come back like nothing happened." He presses and I abruptly stop turning around to face him.

"Like nothing happened? I know exactly what happened and I'm never going to forget the hell I went through but that isn't going to stop me. I'm here and ready, what's the problem?" I furrow my eyebrows.

"Go to Dr.Banner and get a physical done along with other tests." He says and I scoff.

"I don't need that shit." I shake my head.

"That's an order. You want to be on the team again you'll get it done. Then you have to get Stark to give you your suit back. Then we'll go from there." He says walking away making my jaw clench.

"Good to have you back Apex." Hill says before walking out as well.

I then turn to see Natasha looking at me softly.

"He's only looking out for you." She says breaking her silence walking over to me.

"Well I don't need that. I know what I'm capable of and, it feels good." I say looking down at myself.

"Just go to Bruce then talk to Tony-

"Aw man uncle Tony! He's not gonna want to give me my suit back." I say really processing what Fury's words were.

"Just try maybe he will." She says and I nod.

"So do we have a chance to talk now?" I ask her changing the subject.

Natasha looks back at the door before returning her attention to me.

"I kinda have to go, still on the clock. I have to see if Fury or Hill need anything." She says making me nod a bit disappointed.

"We will though I promise." She assures placing a hand on my right shoulder softly.

I nod then walk back to the speed bag without a word.

Natasha sighs then leaves the gym to catch up with Fury and Hill.

I finish my work out then go to my room to shower the sweat off. When I'm nice and fresh into some regular clothes I make my way to the medical wing going to look for Bruce but see no sign of him.

"Oh my god." I hear behind me.

I turn around and see Megan looking at me in disbelief. She immediately comes to me embracing me in a hug.
