Chapter 28
"Tonight is the night!" I said to Klaus.
He looked at me with eyes that wanted to go home. However, when I mentioned Susie's name, he looked fearful.
"Are you talking about the waitress at the Bar With No Name?" Klaus worried.
"Yeah," I responded.
"That chick is crazy!" he told me.
"Are talking about me?" I heard a voice say.
Susie emerged from the darkness. She wore a yellow hoodie and jeans.
"Hi Susie," I said.
"Likewise," she said.
"Also, Klaus don't interfere with my bet" Susie growled.
"Why shouldn't he?" I asked her.
"I'll call your mom" she grinned maniacally.
"Not my mom, how did you even get her number?!" I cried.
"Rainbow Raider gave me it" she smiled.
As we walked to the contact, I realized my stupidity. I trusted Susie a bit too much and was in over my head. Now I would probably have to move back to Flagstaff or even worse, jail. However, that waitress hadn't defeated me completely. I could still defeat Nightmarroine...
