Megan’s POV
It scared me leaving Harry alone like this. He was barely ready to forgive me when we last spoke and completely ready all at once. There was something clinging onto the back of his mind when he looked at me and it made my chest ache. I had been so used to him opening up with the ability to say whatever he needed, but he couldn’t anymore. I don’t know how long it had been since he’s gotten everything off his shoulders, but a few days ago it looked like he was carrying the weight of the world. I tried talking to him again, only receiving short messages back about how busy he was and that he’d try to ring me back later on.
He never did.
“Is this too much?” Emma asked and I turned around to see her holding a dark blue dress in front of her already-clothed body. It would have hugged her sides and not shown off too much cleavage, bringing out her blonde-haired-green-eyed features.
“Where are you two going?” I wondered. She had just met someone a few days ago and he finally decided to ask her out yesterday, causing her to call me this morning in a rush for something new to wear.
“It’s a surprise.” She quoted, wiggling her eyebrows and I laughed.
“Well what that means to wear something that could pass as casual or fancy.” I told her, looking through the clothing racks. “You don’t want to show up at the cinema wearing a floor-length dress.”
She laughed, rolling her eyes.
“I wouldn’t have worn one if we were going to a five-star restaurant.” She stated. “But I don’t think we’d be going for dinner, anyway. He doesn’t seem like the type to keep a conversation going for more than an hour.”
“Ooh.” I wrinkled my nose. “Sounds boring.”
She shook her head with another laugh.
“He’s just... Shy, I guess.” She told me, smiling a little as she looked down at more clothing. “But only because we’ve just met. I’m sure he’ll be a little more open after we talk for a little longer.”
“So you are expecting this to last for more than a single date?” I questioned with a smirk.
“If you’ve laid eyes on him, you’d want it too as well.” She remarked. “He is absolutely gorgeous.”
“I’m not surprised.” I laughed, holding up a white top, draping it over my arm to try on later. “All the guys you date are gorgeous.”
“Oh, you too.” She reminded me. “Even the people you’re friends with are gorgeous.”
I laughed, looking over at her. I knew she was implying Harry and the rest of the boys and all the people I’ve met while working for them, but quickly diverted the subject. I didn’t want to think too much of him right now. I’d end up drowning in all my worried thoughts.
“Are you trying to sneak in a compliment for yourself?” I teased and she smiled, shrugging.
“Possibly.” She spoke. “But speaking of beautiful people, how are things with Andrew?”
I grinned, only thinking of it being one month tomorrow.
“It’s going great so far...” I told her. “He doesn’t seem to be a complete douchebag, so I think we’ll be fine.”
She laughed, shaking her head.
“You mean you don’t want to be with a douchebag?” She joked.
