Megan's POV

I get off the plane early in the morning and am welcomed home with rain pounding against every window. The sky is grey and solemn, but I'm still glad to be here and see my family again.

My mum has been calling me every night, making sure I have everything with me for the next week, always telling me how excited she is to have me back for Christmas. I'm sure she's already planned everything for Christmas day and has my favourite meal ready for tonight.

I feel bad not being able to come home as much as I used to, but whenever I get days off, I try to see her. My dad is busy too often to spend as much time with her. Even when they are together, they end up fighting over something. It's been going on for years, and I only hope for one of their good days when I come home now. It was the holidays and I wanted a relaxing break from my other life, not choosing between mum and dad for a week.

I spoke to Harry once after I went over to his place, and he's still being distant. There's more people talking about him being with Jennifer now, but people talking about his girlfriends never bugged him this much. He got better at handling what they would say, but now there's something that makes him look and sound empty every time I see him.

I find my luggage easily and make my way through the crowd of people coming home for Christmas. I eagerly move around the people rushing to get their luggage and go home before the rain stops and freezes, and make it out into the open where I see my mum waving with a large smile on her face. I look to her sides for my father but expectantly, he isn't there.

I grin and walk quickly over to her, and we both wrap our arms around each other's body with laughter.

"It's so good to see you again..." She says happily, squeezing my body.

"I missed you," I tell her and she pulls back from our hug, placing her hands on the sides of my face.

"I missed you too." She replies, her smile I've adored since I was young unfading. "I'm sorry your father couldn't be here. It's his last day of work before his break, so he couldn't leave."

I always find myself listening to her apologies for him, and she always seems more sorry than he is.

"It's fine, I understand." I tell her and she smiles over at me again, her brown eyes lighting up.

"But you're looking well. How has London been treating you?"

She takes my suitcase and I let her, stringing my handbag over my shoulder.

"Very good." I answer as we make our way out of the building. "And work has been keeping me busy."

"Has Harry been doing okay too, I hope?" She wonders and I quickly try to think of an excuse for him so no one worries like I have been. "Anne says he's been busy with work the past few days, so she won't be able to talk to him until he gets in."

I nod, going along with the story he already came up with. It was a good enough lie. His family knew he was busy a lot, but I'm completely aware that everyone had been out of work for those "busy" few days.

"Yeah, they've been finishing up with a few things before their break," I tell her and we quickly rush outside to her car, covering our heads as much as we could to avoid the rain.

I smile at the feeling of the drops against my skin and wish to stay outside longer if it wasn't so cold. It smells fresh the second my feet hit the glistening pavement, but my mother's voice rushes me to climb into the warm vehicle.
