He stormed into the office and I gripped onto Megan's hand, terrified of what was coming next.
"Do you realize what you did?" David asked loudly.
"Yes." I said quietly.
"Then you know how much people are talking about it. You kissed each other in front of the camera and talked about our confidential meeting. Harry, you cannot cheat on Jennifer and you cannot talk about our business in front of the fans."
"We thought we turned the camera off and I didn't cheat. I kissed her cheek."
"And said you loved her."
"She's my best friend." I said, my heart beating faster in anger and frustration.
"We know that, but you can't make mistakes like this. Everyone is going completely mad over what you two said." He told us, as if we didn't already know.
"I'm sorry," I apologized, looking down and Megan and I's hands clasped together under the table, trying to breathe steadily.
"Sorry is not enough."
I'm not enough.
"It was one mistake and I'm sure if we just explained everything, the talking will stop." Megan said.
"I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. You two spend too much time together and act incredibly close. Everyone already think you're in a secret relationship and that Harry's cheating on this Jennifer Adams girl. You two being like this is bad for publicity. We can't have people thinking that the One Direction members are like this."
I felt my chest tighten at his piercing words.
"So what are you saying?" Megan asked.
"You two can't see each other in public. You can't show any sort of intimacy towards each other and keep your relationship strictly professional-"
"You can't do this!" I yelled.
I've heard these words before.
"I have to. It's the only way they'll stop thinking you're together. The only way you won't be portrayed as a cheater-"
"They'll never stop thinking of me like that! And it's you're god damn fault! You can't tear another one of my best friends away from me. You can't."
"I can. The decision is made-"
"No." I said. "Don't do this. How could you even think of ripping friendships apart like this? The only way I can talk to Louis is calling him and he has to sneak over to my house every time we want to spend time together. You don't even let us talk to each other at concerts and now you're telling me I can't see Megan? This is bullshit!" I screamed.
"You've been too close for too long and it's finally getting to be too much. Don't make this worse than it is. I don't want to have to fire Megan."
"Don't fire her but don't make me stay away from her."
"You have to." David demanded.
"This is ridiculous!" I yelled, clutching onto Megan's hand harder.
"Harry," she spoke and I looked over at her, my vision blurring with tears. "We have to."
"We can't." I said, practically pleading her to not agree with them.
"We have to." She said and I knew she didn't want to. But I also knew she didn't want to loose her job over this. "Please."
