Prompt: Reader and her husband Fred Weasley decorate the Christmas tree in their very first home!

"Darling hand me that ornament." Your husband, Fred Weasley, instructed you. His left hand was grasping the top of the green tree. Due to his towering height, Fred volunteered to place the ornaments on the higher branches to save you the struggle.

From the wood floor below him you sorted out the ornaments from the shoe box. Taking out two, you held them up to your face and gazed up at Fred.

"The new pretty colorful snowman one or the boring dull old bulb looking one?"
Fred chuckled at your opinionated question and faked hesitation as he placed his hand around his chin. Tapping his finger against his skin the red head said,

"Based off your obvious preference, I'm think you'd rather have the snowman." You smirked agreeing. His body was turned on the step stool as he waited for the decoration from you. You repositioned to your knees to attempt at reaching his outstretched hand.

He was on tree duty while you were sorting through the new and old ornament. Flicking your hair behind your shoulder you turned your nose to the sky and spoke in a funny accent saying,

"Wow, you know me so well, Fred."

Fred worked on shimming the decorations to the live tree branches. His new wool sweater had surely caught it's fair share of stick sap but he didn't mind. Fred darted his stare at you then tilted his head and squinted his eyes.

"I mean we're not married for nothing, beautiful."

"I can't believe we got our first tree." You flaunted your best 'happy dance', as Fred called it, and squealed. Fred and you had been dating since your second year at Hogwarts and got engaged fresh out of school. You took some years to yourself before getting married and moving in together, just waiting for all the madness to pass by. The wedding took place in October, almost five months after the destruction that came to your worlds. Luckily, both of you made it out safe, well, and alive. Fred promised to marry you immediately but Molly begged for another real wedding of celebration for the family rather than a simple court visit. Who could shoot down Molly Weasley?

Your first real home in London was purchased a week after the wedding and you couldn't be more ecstatic. Every night you went to bed by your husband's side and every morning you woke up to his handsome face, you didn't need anything else. Your life had grown to be a fairytale.

"And our own home." Fred added on. You hummed dreamily. The home you two had fully moved into about a month ago still felt brand spanking new. Walls freshly painted, pictures hung, furniture boughten, empty rooms dying to be filled and many appliances still waiting to be unwrapped, it was your home. Photos of both sides of the family coated the hallway walls making the house feel homey as you knew your loved ones were there somehow despite the lengthy miles between you. That was when the fear you had endured since your teen years hit like a truck.

"Oh god, we're turning into adults aren't we?" You groaned. Fred leaned against the small ladder and nodded his head.

"I'm afraid so, love." The look of sadness that crossed your features caused a wrench of regret to consume his soul. Fred reached forward to grab your hand then said,

"But don't worry, you'll always be that adorable and sassy teenage witch to me. No matter how wrinkled and crabby you get when we're old." He teased. Your mouth fell agape as you swatted his side offended. Your, loving, husband only laughed at your actions. He seemed to get a nice kick out of your reactions.

"Thank Fred, it means a lot." You mumbled. Arms crossed, you ignored Fred's attempts at kisses instead turning your cheek every time he tried to show his affection. Although much like the trickster he was, Fred pulled a quick one over you. He took the ornament from your hand and threw it you above your head abruptly. Gasping, your eyes shot to the ceiling ready to catch the piece of glass no matter what it took.

Fred took advantage of the distraction and placed his palms on either side of your cheeks. Looking away you found him leaning forward capturing you in a picture perfect kiss. In that moment the special decor was forgotten as you melted into his embrace. Fred's kisses were always filled with care and passion. His lips were smooth and sweet like candy making you disappointed when he detached.
Before you could protest you registered his win as well as the smugness to his child like grin. You resisted the urge to protest knowing very well that Fred had won that battle.

"Of course, Y/n." Fred stated happily. Remembering the origin of your distraction you turned you head to the sky. Floating magically near the chandelier was the tree ornament you had been eagerly ready to save. Fred snapped his finger causing the piece to fall into his hands.

You shoved him lightly for the harmless trick and shook your head with a smile. Staying mad at Fred was hard when he was so full of love and silliness. He made you feel young despite the older you got every day.

Even though you were only in your early twenties, there was no doubt in your mind that you no longer wanted to spend a year decorating a tree without Fred let alone spend another day without him by your side.

"You are so lucky you're cute, Fred Weasley."
