"Nini, when will you please put that guitar down? It's time for dinner." Carol said as she placed the bowl of spaghetti on the center of the table.

Nini, for the past month, has been trying to play the guitar, but her fingers just wouldn't budge with the different chords.

"Mom, five more minutes. I almost got the Am chord down!" Nini yelled as she continued placing her fingers from the A chord to the Am chord.

"Fine Nini. But only five more minutes, you said the last time." Carol frowned as she sat down waiting. Ever since the accident, Nini hasn't let go of that guitar. Ever.

Five minutes passed, and Nini was still struggling with the chord.

"Mom! I swear, I almost have it." Nini said. Carol sighed and walked over to her.

"Nini, honey, please just eat right now, and then you can go back into playing the guitar."

"But Mom.." Nini whined, but Carol gave her a pointed look. "Fine."

Nini walked over to the table with the guitar slinged around her still.

"Nini, put the guitar down. It's not going to run away."

Nini was about to protest, but Carol gave her another look. Nini sighed and took the guitar off and placed it next to her on the other seat next to her. Carol was about to say something, but just stayed quiet.

Dinner was quiet for the two of them. A peaceful, comforting quiet. Dana had to work for an extra hour due to one of the doctors stuck in traffic.

"So, what are you trying to learn on the car?" Carol asked, trying to start a conversation.

Nini had swished some of her food around with her fork, looking down on her plate. "Just a song that Ricky wrote for me."

Carol looked at her daughter, eyes flashing with sympathy.

"And how's that so far?" She asked.

"Okay. I just have to get my fingers to work with the Am chord, and I should be fine."

"That's nice."

"Yeah.."

"Hey, Nini!" Kourtney said as she entered the brunette's room.

"Oh hey. Didn't know you were coming by." Nini said as her eyes focused on the guitar.

"I was just nearby and I haven't seen you in a while, so I decided to drop by and say hello." Kourtney said as she sat down on Nini's bed. Nini didn't say anything, but continued on.

Kourtney saw her and just decided to say something else.

"So, how are you doing?"

"I'm okay." Nini responded.

"What new chord are you trying to learn there?" Kourtney asked as she looked at Nini repeating the same chord over and over again.
