Ms. Understanding (Bokuto x Reader)

Ch. 5 Nekoma Practice Match

Bokuto was unnaturally excited today. It was the Monday after the party, and, sadly, nothing eventful happened between Akaashi and (bff). So seeing Bokuto in a good mood kinda threw you off. While the four of you were on your way to practice, you decided to ask.

"Sooo... Bokuto, what's got you so happy today?"

He looked at you beaming, and it was adorable... Wait adorable?

"We're having a practice match against Nekoma sometime this week!"

He said almost skipping to practice. Good to know that that's coming up. We continue to walk and idly chat until we get to the gymnasium and the boys leave to practice. You and (bff) were finishing up some homework when the team was called over by the coaches. They announced that the match would be on Friday right after school and it would be hosted here. You were excited for the match because then you could see how the team plays against other schools. Practice ended soon after so you and (bff) helped put down the nets and decided to head out.

"Hey! Do you guys wanna hang out for a bit?!"

Bokuto yelled, catching up to you two. Akaashi not far behind looking at him questioningly.

"I mean I don't have anything to do tonight so I guess I could. How 'bout you, (bff)?"

You ask while texting your mom telling her you would be late. You knew (bff) wouldn't have anything to do tonight. So you sent the text as she nodded.

"Yeah, I mean, we did finish our homework at practice."

So you guys decided to hang out at a nearby coffee shop. While you guys are ordering, you get a text from Bokuto.

'[CoolOwlDude: Let's ditch!]'

You looked confused before you got the hint. You responded quickly before (bff) could see or question.

'[Reader: Aight, can I order and eat first I'm starved!!! 🥺🥺]'

He laughed a little out loud, earning an odd look from Akaashi.

'[CoolOwlDude: Lol me too tbh!!]'

You all ordered, you and (bff) ordered simple cappuccinos and tiramisu, Akaashi ordered a black coffee, and Bokuto just ordered an iced tea, not really seeing anything as appetizing. You looked at him questioningly before taking a bite out of your tiramisu. You sighed a bit. It was good, but not as good as the cafe where your grandparents are. You haven't seen them in a while, your mother says they're doing well but you want to see them again. You didn't know how long you zoned out, maybe thirty seconds, but all of sudden there was snapping fingers in your face. You look up, startled, to see all members of the table staring at you.

"What?"

You ask, confused.

"Well I was wondering if you wanted to come over and hang out with us after the Nekoma match but you seem to be in your own little world!"

Bokuto said, you looked at the other two who told you they were going as well so you had to agree. You're still a bit dazed from being in memory lane when you get a text from Bokuto. '[CoolOwlDude: OKAY! Time to go! Tell them your mom said you had to go home or something!]'

You saw his text, looked bewildered, but then gasped. Everyone looked at you confused.

"Sorry! I just remembered I was supposed to help my mom with something so I gotta go!"

You quickly scarf down the rest of the tiramisu, chug the cappuccino, and pack up. As you exit the cafe, you text Bokuto.

'[Reader: Aight roll out.]'
