It hasn't even been a week since you've become the manager of Fukurodani's volleyball team and you were already on the verge of a mental breakdown. It's not that you didn't want to be the manager; it was just a difficult transition from doing homework then doing nothing after school to having to go to volleyball practice and watch a bunch of rowdy boys play and get sweaty while their coach yells at them THEN doing your normal routine. On the bright side, your dad comes home soon! remembering that calmed you down quite a bit and reminded you that you still hadn't invited (bff) to his birthday party. Might as well do it now since you've got time.
"Hey, (bff), are you busy on saturday?"
you ask, moving over by her so she can hear you.
"No, why?"
"Well, we're throwing a surprise party for my dad when he gets home from his business trip, wanna come?"
She smiles widely as she nods happily,
"Hell yeah! You know I love parties! The music, the people, the FOOD!"
You knew she could prattle on all day so you stopped her there with a laugh,
"Alright, alright! Calm down there, killer. I'll tell my mom to add you to the list."
You and (bff) realized that there was nothing to do at the moment so you both pulled out your homework to try and get something done. Soon, break was called and you and (bff) handed out water bottles and towels to the boys. (Bff) and Akaashi were chatting so you went back to the bench to finish up the last of your homework. You hadn't even sat down for five minutes before a certain owl comes bounding towards you,
"Hey, (y/n)! What ya doin'?"
Bokuto asks as he plops down next to you, a bit too close for comfort. You scoot away as you respond.
"I'm just finishing up the last of my homework, don't you have other people to talk to?"
"Nope! We still have to work on the plan!"
Shit, forgot about that didn't ya? you sigh as you try to think.
...
W A I T!!!
You gasp as if you had just seen the holy spirit. Bokuto looks at you, kinda terrified, as your eyes light up and you start to grin, proud of your idea. He's startled by how quickly you turned and asked,
"Are you guys busy on saturday?"
"No, I don't think we are... why?"
He was scared of the look on your face, but at the same time, he blushed.
"You guys are coming to my house on saturday. Do everything in your power to make sure he shows up."
You say as you gesture over to Akaashi. He nods slowly, still not understanding why they needed to go to your house on saturday, but he'll try his best.
TIME SKIP SATURDAY 10 AM
It was finally the day of your dad's party but damn, you were exhausted. Not only were you helping your mom plan the party, but you and Bokuto kept texting each other about the plan. Everything was ready, all you had to do was get ready for the party which was in 2 hours. Your mom had sent your father out to do a grocery run so that everyone could get to the house and be hidden by the time he got back. Everyone was instructed to park their cars in the nearest park and walk the rest of the way. You shower and change into a nice shirt and a pair of jeans. You decide to put your hair up in a simple bun and put on a light layer of foundation and some mascara. You don't normally wear make up because it clogs the hell out of your pores and it just feels weird on your face. just as you were finishing your look, your phone buzzes. (bff) had texted you saying that she was about 5 min away when you realized something... Bokuto doesn't have your address... Well shit. You quickly double check to make sure you hadn't and then sent him the address. He sent a cheeky grin and a thumbs up emoji in return, it made you laugh a little after getting to know his texting style. All you had to do was wait for everyone to arrive.
