Jonathan woke up when he felt Lucy shaking. It was a shaking he knew all too well it told him that she was having a nightmare and he needed to wake her up. Pulling his arm from under her head, he gently shook her causing her to wake up crying and throwing her hand out for protection.
"Lucy calm down. It's me. You are all right, you're just having a nightmare," Jonathan said trying to catch her arms before they hit him.
Finally she woke up enough to realize where she was and who she was with. Soon the flailing hands stopped and she hugged Jonathan crying her eyes out. Jonathan held her while she told him everything and it made his heart break hearing the abuse she has been through. Jonathan didn't know how to help her so he started humming and rocking her softly while her tears stopped. He gently petted her hair humming to a tune his mom hummed to him when he was scared. The bittersweet memory made him smile sadly making him wish he had his mom to hug one last time. He looked down to see Lucy sleeping once again and he gently laid her back down on the bed. Then he went to the bathroom and leaned against the wall his thoughts surrounding him. His breathing became short and tight signalling that he was about to have a panic attack. He hasn't had once since the day he took Lucy so the fact that he was having one now made him wonder why. Then the thought of Lucy leaving him scared him more than anything. He didn't know what he would do without her. He knew that his feelings for her wont stop growing and he knew sooner or later he would scare her away. He pushed that thought away while another appeared. What if he hurt her? How could he ever live with himself knowing the one person who ever gave a damn about him got hurt because of him?
"Shut up Jonathan. How can you hurt her? It's not like you're gonna get a chance to," he said to himself. "I don't even know why I said that wow I'm an idiot I could never hurt her I'm not my father.....or am I? Nope. No I'm not shut up brain"
The argument he was having with him stopped quickly when he heard people walking on top of the bunker. Running quietly to the second door leading out he walked out to the night air. Then hearing the voices again he walked to them curious as to why they are out this late at night. When he caught a glimpse of the cops he froze. He knew what they were here for, they came to take Lucy away and it broke his heart but it didn't change the fact that he kidnapped an innocent girl. Putting on a brave face he walked to them making them focus their flashlights on him.
"Evening officers what brings you out here this late?" Jonathan said calmly.
"There's a young lady that was kidnapped from her bed close to a week ago and we're out here looking for her" they explained
Jonathan gulped and weakly smiled "what's this young girls name?"
They gave him weird looks as they told him her name. Chills ran up his spine showing him that he's been caught and he's going to pay for his crimes. Then a small body appeared behind Jonathan making them draw their guns quickly.
"Put your hands up you're under arrest for the kidnapping of Lucy Logworth." one officer yelled.
Jonathan did as he was told as he turned around looking at Lucy who was crying trying to get away from the cop who believed he was helping her. The sight made him cry as the cuffed him 'leave her alone' he thought.
"Jonathan!" Lucy yelled.
"Its okay it's going to be okay," he replied, his voice cracking.
"Let him go he didn't kidnap me! I came here willingly please let him go!" Lucy yelled but no one listened as they dragged Jonathan away making his heart hear the farther he became from Lucy.
He was shoved into the back of the patrol car as he looked out the window he could see Lucy still trying to get away from the cop. When they made eye contact Jonathan shook his head sadly making tears fall. Lucy stopped fighting and collapsed on the ground crying heavily. Then the car pulled away taking Jonathan away from his small bunker and from Lucy who taught him how to love. The red and blue lights illuminated Jonathan's face as they got closer to the police station. He looked up to the roof of the car and said a small prayer. 'Make sure she's safe' he thought as the patrol car came to a stop making Jonathan dread what's about to happen. He knew that he won't get out easily and he cursed at himself for ever walking out of the bunker in the first place. But in the end he only hopes to see her one more time.
Jonathan was snapped from his thoughts as the officer forcibly dragged Jonathan out of the car making him wince in pain. The wound on his side slightly opened leaving small but noticeable lines down his side. 'So much for me being careful' he thought as the lights blinded him. Voices were everywhere at once making him panic then he focused his gaze on Lucy's parents. Anger replaced the panic he once had when he saw her pathetic excuse of a father. Then Lucy came in soon after him instead of her going to her parents like every kidnapped kid she went to jonathan and hugged him tightly. He rested his head on hers and kissed it before her dad pulled her away.
"You're safe now. Why are you still going to him?" her dad asked angrily.
Lucy said nothing while she pulled her arm away from his grasp. Then she did something that shocked everyone. She kissed Jonathan while her face was wet with tears. It told jonathan that she will get him out one way or another and she won't rest till she does. Jonathan smiled slightly and told her that he loved her and he was pushed away from her by her father which made his anger grow. Jonathan charged and jump kicked her dad out of the window while her mother screamed. Her brother Luka seemed impressed but said nothing. The officers called for a medic to check out the father while Jonathan got tased till he blacked out. The last thing he heard was the evil laugh of his dead uncle in his head.
