When they arrived home there was a black suv sitting in the clearing as Lucy's stomach fell. She knew all too well whose car that was and the thought of it made her ill. She hoped that it was just a coincidence that this person had the same car as her dad but as soon as she was close enough to see the license plate she knew that the jail house released her dad and didn't tell her.
"Lucy, whose car is that?" Jonathan asked unbuckling his seat belt.
"My father. They must have let him out of jail," Lucy explained while putting the car in park.
They got out of the car and noticed that the door opened on both sides of her dad's car meaning that her mother decided to join the party. The nervousness in Lucy's stomach rose, making her want to puke what she just had for lunch. Her father looked down at her with hate filled eyes as her mother stood next to him.
"What are you doing here?" Lucy asked, not looking either of them in the eyes.
"We've come to take you home Lucy. It's not safe here...especially with him," her mom started reaching her hand out.
Lucy looks at her mom's hand and backs away as Jonathan places a comforting arm around her. This movement made her father enraged as he got in his car and sped away leaving her mother behind with them. Her mother looked at them with a nervous smile as she looked at Jonathan then Lucy.
"Why don't we go inside, hm? Maybe we can have a nice cup of tea while we wait for your father to return," her mother said trying to remain calm.
Neither of them moved at first until Jonathan led Lucy inside by gently pushing her before letting her mother in. He looked her in the eyes.
"Why are they here?" he asked with concern edging into his voice.
Lucy shook her head, concerned as well, but tried to not show it as she forced a smile on her face while she grabbed Jonathan's hand for mainly support. "I'm sure they are just trying to look out for me, that's all."
"If he tries anything I will not be afraid to shoot him Lucy. I don't care if he's your father. I will not let him hurt you again," he told her in a very serious tone.
Lucy nods as they let her mother in, letting her sit on one of the two chairs they had in the small but spacious bunker. Her mother's smile was painted on as she sat there while Lucy went to make the tea for them while they 'chatted'.
"So, uh, what's your name?" Jonathan asked, running his fingers through his hair.
She forced another smile that made her look older than she really was. "Gloria," she said in the nicest tone she could manage.
Lucy came back in as Jonathan sighed in relief, taking one of the mugs in his hands, blowing some of the steam away. "Thank you love for making the tea."
Lucy smiled as she heard a car door slam meaning that her father returned. They all waited and listened as he stormed in knocking things over making a mess in his wake. Lucy sighed sadly but not loud enough for her parents to hear. The slight fear of the past crept into her mind, making her grab Jonathan's hand after setting her tea down.
"So you would rather stay in a dump like this than a nice home where you know you will be safe?" her father started.
Lucy didn't really say anything at first trying to find the right words to say, still holding on to Jonathan's hand for support. "I'm safe here. I will always be safe here." she said not looking at her father not wanting to see the anger in his eyes.
"That's a bunch of bull shit and you know it. This ass wipe you so claim to love won't do shit to protect you and as for this dump one wrong move and you're hurt to the point where you're dead!" he yelled, making Lucy jump.
"Luther are you drunk?" Gloria asked, looking at her husband in disbelief.
Luther shrugged and didn't say anything while grabbing Jonathan by the hair pulling him outside.
"Dad let him go!" Lucy yelled as her mother held her back.
She watched helplessly as her father began to beat the living daylights out of Jonathan. Her mother's arm around her made her arm boil as she ripped it away from her body before going back into the bunker pulling out Jonathan's hand held gun.
"Lucy put that down you don't know how to use that." her mother said, trying to sound stern.
"Oh yeah? Jonathan taught me in case I was here alone so guess that proves you wrong mother," Lucy shot back gaining new found confidence.
Gloria tried to stop her once again to only receive the butt of the gun to her head, knocking her out cold as she stormed outside pulling the hammer back as she pointed it at her father. Her hands shook slightly as she took a deep breath. Her father bellows a laugh as he pushes Jonathan away standing.
"You don't have the guts to shoot me girl," her father spat.
"I wouldn't underestimate me, father. I'm a lot more capable of things than you think," she replied, her voice cold and stern.
Her father laughed more as he took a step forward making Lucy take a step back with her hands tightening around the gun. "Don't move." she warned.
"Or what. Will you shoot me?" he laughed taking another step.
"Yes father that is exactly what I'm going to do." she exclaimed as she pulled the trigger making the bullet leave its chamber as it flew towards her father at lightning speed embedding itself in his head making him drop dead.
Lucy dropped the gun as she ran to Jonathan's side holding him close as the sound of sirens came into ear shot getting louder by the second. Lucy didn't care all she cared about was that she was finally free of her father's evil eyes.
