Voices and laughter surrounded the castle, carriages marked the ground outside. The Vikings and Albert's crew had arrived. Most everybody was already drunk with victory and rum as the men stumbled into the arena. They laughed and talked of their defeat. Edith walked in, spying Jake and Emily. She walked up to them.
"My boy!" She exclaimed, and hugged Jake. She smelled of rum.
"Mom? You okay?" he asked, clearly concerned.
"Your mother is quite a warrior," Albert noted as he walked up to Emily, giving her the ultimate hug, her toes left the ground and all of the air she once had in her body was now gone.
"Huh," she choked out.
He put her back on the ground.
"Thank you so much Albert, you really came through for me," she said, once she caught her breath.
"You know I cannot lose you, ever Emily. You are family to me," he said, smiling.
Emily smiled radiantly back; he always knew how to touch her heart.
"I do not believe you two have met," Emily said glancing back and forth from Albert to Jake. "Jake, this is Albert, Albert this is Jake."
"Well are you not a strapping young lad," Albert said with a firm hand shake.
Emily blushed.
"And I do believe you are already taken, my oh my," Albert said, making her blush even further.
Jake looked at her, acknowledging his words, and smiled. Emily never noticed it before, but he had really grown up, and his smile was breath taking. Even though he had blood sprayed all over him.
"Unfortunately," Emily said, eager to change the subject, "We must get to the docks before dawn with the cures!"
"Well, we will be here when you get back!" Albert exclaimed. "We must destroy this castle and the evil it has brought once and for all."
Edith hiccupped, "Give me that beer!" She snatched a beer from another man's hand and swallowed it whole in order to get rid of her hiccups. "Be safe son!"
As they walked away to the carriage, they heard Edith and Albert talking, "I have never seen that girl blush before," Albert said.
"Me neither," Edith replied.
Emily put her head down la-la-la-la-la she filled her head with a rhythmic tune to block them out. Jake was laughing with a smug look on his face; he then proceeded to poke her in her ticklish spot.
"Hey!" she yelled and jumped back, "You just wait, you will get yours sir!"

"Just as much as we would both like to party with the Vikings, I would like to take you home, Mrs. Henessy," Thomas said, as he carried his wife to a carriage and made sure she was smug and comfortable before he got on the horse to ride to their house. He was so happy he got the cures in time to save his wife. He thanked god over and over again in his head.
He would take home his wife, still with child and nurse her back to health, no matter how long it took. He had taken extra cures for her, just in case.

Riding to the docks, Emily and Jake ran up to the end. Sailors and pirates were getting ready to take off already.
"Hold your sail!" Emily yelled.
Some men turned to her disgruntled; others did not even bother to look in the direction of the female voice.
"If you listen to us, it will save your life," she began to explain, "You are all infected and need the cure in order to survive. And we must destroy this dock, these ships."
They looked at her disbelieving, like she was insane and off edge.
Lars rode up on his horse right behind them, a face they would recognize, Emily felt relief.
"She speaks the truth," Lars said, as he jumped from his horse. "You are all diseased.
Panic rose on their faces, they slowly began to abandon their ships without further explanation. Jake ran forward and tipped over a few torches that sat on the dock, the dock caught fire, as the last of the men left the dock and went to the carriage. Emily was handing them vials.
"Please, take these, you only need one, but take extra if you know of any men that have left for town."
