Slowly waking she opened her drowsy eyes to see Randi sitting next to her.
"R-r-randi?" Emily asked, her voice was constricted, she felt extremely weak. She looked at her, thinking her eyes were lying to her as she saw blood coming from her nose, and some of her pores.
"Emily," she said, not looking at all coherent, "Oh Emily," tears of blood came from her eyes as she cried.
"What is the matter Randi!? What is wrong with you?" Emily asked, trying to sit up, but feeling very ill.
"It is Lord Gaube. He told the doctor to give me the "Red Plague," so I could suffer for the remaining four days of my life. I am only worried about the baby," she choked out.
Emily was completely shocked, and disgusted that Lord Gaube could do such a thing to a woman with child, anyone for that matter. He was a monster.
"It will be okay Randi, the whole town knows of his monstrosity. They are all on attack mode."
"He is going to give disease to the entire world Emily."
It killed Emily to look at Randi with the blood draining from her.
"That is why we must still put up a good fight," Emily said putting her cold hand on her sweaty forehead.
"He said that if you chose to marry him, he would stop this, stop us from dying Emily."
"Are you actually agreeing with him Randi?"
"It sure does sound pretty nice right now, but no I am not."
"He is so sick and twisted; he wants me to stand by his side while the world dies."
Emily held her shoulders; she began to grow so cold, even though her body was sweating like no other. She observed the room, cracked dark grey stones everywhere, rats scurried the grounds, a dozen or so dead rats lay on the ground, some bleeding, and there was a hole in the ground for emptying the bodily fluids. The door was made of steel with bars to look through at the top. A man looked through then it busted open.
A guard, followed by Lord Gaube came through the door and into the room.
"You monster," Emily spit out.
"Yes, yes just as well. So I take it that you have not accepted my proposal yet," Lord Gaube said. "That is disappointing my dear. I really wanted it to be you, but I suppose Agatha would do just as well."
"You are disgusting."
"Thank you, I hope to be if I am going to rule the world correctly. Ah well, you have six hours to make up your mind, otherwise you will be dead. I have given you one of my favorite sicknesses that lasts for a total of six hours. It is called last day, fitting is it not?"
"You will never be able to pull it off. Ruling the world you know," Emily said, her nose scrunched with disgust.
"Ah but that my dear, is not at all a problem. Everything has been falling into place quite nicely. I am expecting your father to show up here pretty soon," he said, watching her facial expression, but she hid it, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
"Father? My father has been dead for thirteen years now; you really have gone mad Gaube."
He chuckled, "I know better, Agatha has been in my pocket for awhile now, she came to me today, telling me all about it. At first, her story was hard to digest, but I got to thinking about all of the gossip on your family's curse. And I believe it."
Emily felt the pit of her stomach grow nauseous.
