Racing back into town, she brought Pinelli back into the fenced area and jumped off of him. "Thank you, handsome fella" she whispered and pet his cheek; she then turned and entered the back of Edith's shop. Pinelli, relieved, walked over to the water bin.
Edith sat behind the counter in the shop with Jake at her side. They looked startled with Emily's abrupt entrance, which was the second time she did this to Jake. She felt a little bad, but none the less, there were important issues at hand. Her hair was frizzed, and she began to smooth it out, "I need to use a messenger pigeon. It is an emergency."
Edith looked frightened, especially with everything that has been going on lately. "Oh no child, what is the matter?" Edith asked as she got up, and squeezed passed Jake so she could walk up to her. She gripped Emily's shoulders, Emily was panting for breath. "Breathe child, Breeeattthheee."
Emily took a few deep breathes before she began, "Lord Gaube, he has the entire town on lock down, sealed off," she sliced the air with her hand to put emphasis on the situation.
"What?" Jake chimed in wide eyed and stepping closer. "You were not able to get to Albert? Why does he have the entire town sealed off?"
"I don't know, but it's obviously not good, that's for sure. He's about to strike like the snake that he is," this brought a dark and gloomy feeling to the room.
"I wouldn't put it passed him," Edith said, releasing Emily and walking to the counter. She grabbed a tiny piece of hemp paper, feather and ink. "Here Emily, is this large enough to write your message."
"I want two," she mouthed.
"Well, that's a little risky for one pigeon."
"I want two pigeons, different locations."
"Okay, but we only have one pigeon trained for you. You haven't sent mail elsewhere."
"You will agree with me later."
Emily walked up and began to write the first letter in as tiny lettering as she could, while Edith retrieved a second piece of hemp paper.
Dear Albert,
It is I, Emily. My town and I are in need of your assistance. Lord Gaube has blocked off our entire town. The soldier's locations are about 2 hours on horse back before reaching your town. I also spotted a few archers in the woods apon my quick assessment. He's up to no good. I'm scared for my towns people, he's about to strike, and we need to get everyone out of here immediately. There are guards everywhere surrounding us. You told me once of your army you had
previously. Please help and may god be with you.
Emily
The next read:
Dear Heavenly Father,
It's Emily Henessy. I need your help,
Idon't know if this or my prayers will
reach you, but we must try everything. May Heaven help us and save our souls. If not me, then please save this town.
I don't know what Lord Gaube is up
to, but it's no good! I can feel it in my God given bones. That's without
question. Thank you.
Yours truly,
Emily
"Here, these should do," Emily said as she handed the notes to Edith. Edith began to roll them up and walk outside to the pigeon house. She attached one to her pigeon then the next to a different pigeon. "This one hasn't yet nested anywhere, I think it will work, your letter was addressed to a much respected party, he has to listen to us if he hasn't yet already, " Edith said in approval.
She then let them loose outside.
"Thank you Edith, Jake. I'm going to go to Lar's office to update him with this information, and find out if he has any news for me."
"No problem, I don't want to warn the towns people yet, but it might come down to that soon. Very soon," Edith stared down, "I just don't want everyone in town to panic yet," she said as she hugged Emily.
"Be safe Emily, I really mean it," Jake said as he walked up and gave her a hug with a solemn look on his face.

"Move!" One of Lord Gaube's guards spat out at Drustan. Drustan was a short pudgy man in his early thirties. Normally he was filled of color, healthy as a horse. At this moment in time, he was far from being healthy. His skin was pale; He had large lumps on his neck, under his arms, and on his inner thighs. They were hard, devastatingly painful, and turning black. Black spots had begun developing all over his body, and in his urine, blood streamed out as well. He was too feverish to notice too much, and the pain....oh the pain!
His entire body ached; a fever had developed the first day he had been kidnapped to this dreadful dungeon. He had felt cold, chilled ever since they brought the rats into his chamber, cell. The guard threw him back into his dungeon cell where the rats still ran their course. Vomit stung his nose, but he barely noticed. He laid on the floor, crossing his arms over his chests, trying to keep warm on the stone cold floor.
I'm going to die, he thought as the guard slammed the door shut to his cell, and then locked it. PAIN! "Ahhhhhh! Ohhhh! Noo!" He cried out, "Please! Stop this! Please! Anything! I will do anything! AHHHH!" Then, darkness surrounded him as he drifted away.
