5. Broken Promises

I open my eyes and stretch while yawning. I sit up then look around. I get out of bed my feet touch the cold wooden floor. I open the curtains to see it raining. I sigh but leave them open anyways. I grab my work clothes from my closet checking the time.

8:17a.m.

It reads. I figured I should take the dogs outside. Take them for a walk as promised so I exit my room to see them both laying around asleep. I chuckle as I grab their collars and leashes.

"Wanna go for that walk I promised?" I asked them. Caleb walks towards me then sits in front of me. Noen walks to us as he sits down as well.

"Please tell me last night was a dream..." I mumble to myself out loud. But, they heard me and shook their head no. I put their collars on and hook their leashes to it afterwards.

"Alright lets go," I say as we head out the front door.

I let them back in knowing the rain was risky so I wipe their paws off with a towel I set by the door earlier. Then I unhook their leashes and take off their collars. I put them in the spot I usually set them. I refill their bowls up with water. Some dog food as well. I don't get how they eat dog food if they transform later on. I shrug it off then head into my bedroom closing the door behind me. I look at the time on my phone again to see what time it is.

10:27am

I dry my hair with a towel from the bathroom because I forgot to bring an umbrella. Then I get changed into my work clothes. Then fix my hair into a ponytail.

"I'll be here at six-thirty or seven tonight. Caleb, we can watch a movie or something tonight I promise," I tell them when I hear someone knocking at the door. I hear Caleb and Noen scurry off. I sigh as I grab my purse that has all of my things.

Once I get to the front door. I peak to see who it is. I see Ashton standing their awkward and I smile. I open the door to see him standing there.

"Hey, Ash. What're you doing here?" I questioned him.

"I came to give you a ride to work and home," he smiled genuinely. I raise an eyebrow but shake my head after.

"I was going to take my car..."

"I was offering though," Ashton said still being generous. I nod as I grab my house keys securing the house before I left.

Caleb Finn

"I knew she has a boyfriend, Noen," I pace back and forth as I process the scent of that male who picked her up. I wonder who he is, are they official? I had so many questions running through my mind. 

"Caleb, you need to breathe. You'll get her love eventually," I scoffed feeling offended by Noen's remark. He didn't understand ... I may be a total douche but Ella was something else.

"She did promise a movie or something between the two of you tonight," Noen said. He was right, she did say that before leaving but then I start whining since I'm still in dog form.

"What if she doesn't learn to love me?" I ask in the softest saddest tone. Noen sits down as I lie down. I feel upset for the first time in a good while.

"She has a soft spot for you, Caleb. I guarantee it," I get Noen was trying to make me feel better. Yet, it wasn't working.

I wanted to know if that Ashton guy was her boyfriend. Why would she cuddle with me if she's with him? Why would we watch movies if she's with somebody else? Is she really with him? Or am I just losing my mind? It shouldn't really matter anyways but deep down it does.

Officially off of work. It's 8:00p.m. I see Ashton waiting so I go to the passenger side getting in. We drive back to my place so I could get dressed for our date that I COMPLETELY had forgotten about... Anyways we've been together for about a year and half. Let's just say, things were getting 'serious'. I hope Caleb won't mind about change of plans.

"Do you mind if I come in?" Ashton asked as he remained focused on the road ahead of him. I remember Caleb and Noen. I decide to make an excuse or lie.

"I do mind. Um... The house is a mess currently. Maybe next weekend?" I offer which he nods then smiles afterward.

"That works," I nod after hearing his words as the tunes of Five Seconds of Summer plays on the radio in the background. I tap to the music hoping to get down his pattern so I could learn to play the song by memory on the keyboard I had in my room. It helps distracting the awkward tension if the music wasn't playing.

Caleb Finn

I hear the sound of keys and I instantly rush for the living room. I hope this jade green colour long sleeved shirt and tan shorts looked nice for our movie. When she just rushes through the living room into the kitchen down the hallway. I hear the door close shut from her bedroom. I'm questioning what she was doing. Since, she agreed to a movie tonight.

I knock at her bedroom door waiting for a response, "In a minute!" She exclaimed. I hear shuffling and her feet moving a lot in her bedroom. So, I wait patiently for her to open the door.

I hear the door knob click and I see her in a gorgeous dark blue dress that slightly flares. It compliments her skin tone being a light shade. Her hair wasn't finished yet but she looked stunning no matter what.

"I'm sorry ... We can't do our movie tonight-"

"I know. With your boyfriend, right? That you happened to forget to tell me about? So, you want me to cuddle with you and you don't tell me-"

"Caleb, I thought you were a dog ..." We kept cutting each other off. I study her for a minute then decided to say;

"So, that's just what I am to you?.... Is that seriously all I am to you?" Ella didn't respond looking down at the ground before continuing to fix her hair in the bathroom next to her bedroom. I had a feeling she was thinking of something.

"Caleb, we barely know each other..." I hide behind my emotions and choose to walk away. Once I get closer to the room..

I literally take off my clothes leaving me in my underwear. I go into my and Noen's shared bedroom. I neatly fold my clothes grab another t-shirt and shorts.

"She's going on a date with her boyfriend," I tell him before exiting our shared room. I stop when I see Ella wanting to go into our room but she shakes her head. And, she exits the house. I hear her lock it when I hear the guys car roar. I peak out there to see the vehicle driving away. I whine around as I slouch in a sofa crying.

I now understand the feeling of pure rejection and promises being completely broken. I can't believe that's all she sees me as...

Noen Eubanks

I went to see where Caleb was going but I hid behind the corner when I realized Caleb was crying while hugging a pillow. This stuns me considering the last I saw him cry was years ago.
I realized he was thinking about Ella. The fact that he basically got rejected when I told him to give her a chance just upset him. His thoughts were wild right now but; I study him for another minute.

This was the very first time I saw him cry ... over a girl.
