When I open my eyes again the light from the stars seem to die out. Only cold and dull light illuminates the night. Legolas notices the silent tears and holds my face gently, the touch patient and full of hope. After a moment he lets go as Aragorn emerges from the Golden Hall. He looks from Legolas to me, so I just stare at the night sky instead. Aragorn joins and stands beside Legolas, all of us now looking into the direction of Mordor.

"The stars are veiled. Something stirs in the East." Legolas tells, "A sleepless malice. The eye of the Enemy is moving."

"We know. The most dark and desperate days are already upon us. All we can do is fight in the war that's coming fast.", I say.

Something suddenly blows with the breeze, wrapping me up in it. Something evil. As soon as it starts suffocate, it stops. Screaming starts inside the Hall. An innocent suffering.

Pippin!

"He is here!", Legolas gasps.

"Tolo ar nin!", Aragorn commands, bursting back into the Hall.
(Come with me)

Legolas and I sprint after him. The feast is over and everything is darker. I avoid a sleeping Eowyn, who should be in her room instead of out here.

After the turns and twists of the hallways, we enter a master bedroom. Pippin clutches an orange glowing palantir, twitching and rolling on the ground in pain.

"No dirweg!", I yell.
(Beware)

Aragorn didn't seem to hear me as he grabs the stone from Pippin's hands. Aragorn drops to the floor and shakes uncontrollably. I reach out to him but stop as Legolas gets to him first. The orb rolls slowly across the room, as Mithrandir jumps up and wraps it back in a cloth.

"Pippin!", Merry says in concern.

"Fool of a Took!" Gandalf roars, approaching a horror struck Pippin, "Look at me."

"Gandalf, forgive me!", Pippin begs, looking anywhere but Mithrandir.

"Look at me." he orders in a hushed voice, "What did you see?"

"A-a tree..." stutters Pippin, "There was a w-white tree, in a courtyard o-of stone... it-it was dead. The city was b-burning."

Gondor, Boromir's city that he died trying to protect.

"Minas Tirith? Is that what you saw?", Gandalf questions.

"I s-saw... I saw H-him! I could hear His voice... in my head!", Pippin holds back sobs.

"And what did you tell Him? Speak!", Mithrandir says urgently.

"He asked me my name." Pippin sucks in a breath, "I didn't answer. He hurt me!"

"What did you tell Him about Frodo and the Ring?"

"Nothing... I told Him nothing.", Pippin manages to say clearly.

"Are you sure?" Gandalf asks.

"Yes.", the hobbits voice rings out in the room.

"We have been lucky then. I will tell the King about this at sunrise. Rest until then.", Mithrandir plans.

"Lle tyava quel?" I approach Pippin, "Are you ok?"
(Do you feel well)

"Yeah, I'll be alright.", Pippin trembles less.

"I know you will." I smile warmly, "Would you like to hear a fact I figured out about hobbits?"

"Well if you figured it out yourself then that's an opinion.", Merry says.

"Trust me. It's a real fact since the Fellowship figured it out as well." I begin, "Hobbits are resilient and brave. They have more heart than any other race that inhabits Middle Earth. Now try to rest before the meeting to recover your strength. Tenna'telwan Merry and Pippin."
(Until later)

"I'll always remember that.", Pippin says.

"See you later!", Merry calls as I exit the room.

I enter the spare room where I got ready for the feast, closing the door and taking deep breaths. What happened to Pippin was intense. If Sauron was in my head, I would lose it. I wouldn't be able to get over that like Pippin just did. Hobbits really are a wonder.

I check my clothes on the floor. Dirt, blood, and ripped all over. They are beyond repair. My cloak survived though so I put it on the bed. I rummage in a tiny closet to search for something else to wear other then a dress.

Eventually I find a light grey tunic, leggings and a cleaner version of my other boots, so I lay them out on the bed as well. I scrub my bloodied sword, quiver and arrows with some water, placing them against the wall when I'm done.

Slipping out of the dress and kicking off the flats I enter the bathroom, examining the wound on my leg. The cut is barely there anymore, thanks to elves healing faster than other races. I weave out the stitches cautiously and bandage the area, just to make sure I won't get an infection.

After I change into the new clothes, I attach my moms cloak with the Lothlorien brooch and do my hair in a complicated braid. I grab the dagger Haldir gave me, sit down on the bed, and start to twirl it in my fingers.

I cannot sleep. My mind will not let me, swirling in all that has happened. Helms Deep, Haldir dying, Legolas reaching out, what happened to Pippin, the war that is coming...

The sun eventually rises, so I secure my weapons and exit the room. When I make it to the Hall, Aragorn is the only one that is missing. He arrives seconds after me. Mithrandir starts to explain all that has happened in the last few hours to Theoden. The king looks very worried but listens without interruption.

"There was no lie in Pippin's eyes. A fool... but an honest fool he remains. He told Sauron nothing of Frodo and the Ring. Pippin saw in the palantir a glimpse into the enemy's plan. Sauron moves to strike the city of Minas Tirith." Gandalf goes on, "Helm's Deep showed our enemy one thing: the heir of Elendil has come forth. Men are not as weak as he supposed; there is courage still, strength enough to perhaps challenge him. Sauron fears this. He will raze Minas Tirith to the ground before he sees a king return to the throne of men. If the Beacons of Gondor are lit, Rohan must be ready for war."

"Tell me." the king questions, "Why should we ride to the aid of those who did not come to ours? What do we owe Gondor?"

"I will go.", Aragorn offers.

"Not without me.", I add.

"No!", Mithrandir opposes.

"They must be warned!", Aragorn argues.

"They will be. You must come to Minas Tirith by another road." Gandalf whispers to Aragorn and speaks up again, "Follow the river and look to the black ships. I ride for Minas Tirith. And I won't be going alone."
