I hit another enemy agent in the gut as I raced towards the rendezvous point Clint had directed before we arrived here at yet another Hydra base.  Sixth one this week and I had a paper due by Monday! But this was just another day in my life these days... Nearly been a year since the Battle of NY and my life was totally FLIPPED!!

Now my days consisted of getting up in my library/ Bedroom and getting dressed, drinking coffee and doing some school on the lap and chillin in the Snuggie, and by nightfall, kicking ass with my shadow bending and magic with my family in Germany. This was just another day in my life.

My crazy, bizarre life that I wouldn't trade for the world.

I reached the Quinjet and flopped myself onto my seat, allowing my magical Cloak of Shadows to fall down around my shoulders, revealing my pale-skinned face with hair as black as midnight and my green eyes looking around at everyone.

Clint and Nat were in the drivers' seats, as usual, talking secretively, as again. I saw Bruce sitting in his seat with headphones on and eyes closed, trying to relax for the long flight home, My uncle Tony was talking on the phone and waving his hands around angrily. I took another glance around.

"Guys? Where's Rogers? He was right behind Thor..." I said, looking at the blonde God of Thunder who had just walked inside and was setting his hammer on the floor. He shrugged in my direction.

"He was right behind me until a moment ago..." Thor replied, shrugging. Way to go, dude... Like, really? Just shrugging like it was no big deal that Cap was lost? What was with that?  "Trackers are saying he's on his bike and fast approaching, ma'am," JARVIS said into my earpiece and I nodded my thanks.

Pretty soon there was the sound of a motorcycle being driven up to our jet and the whole plane felt like it swayed. We took off. Steve came out and sat in his seat moments later, with a book on WW2 in hand.

Bruce fell asleep halfway there. Tony stayed on the phone and Steve had begun looking out the window wistfully fifteen minutes after opening his book, and I knew he was probably thinking about better days.

I was surprised when Thor came and sat next to me with a tablet in hand. Looking at me sheepishly, he asked, "Lady Cassandra, I do require your help, if you may?" I smiled and flipped the page on my book. "Sorry Thor, I'm studying Ancient Engineering, not Psychology..." He looked confused and held the tablet to me.

"I require your assistance finding the woman known as Google. My 'weee fi' won't work." I suppressed a chuckle and took the tablet from him, showing how to set up his WiFi and play a few games to keep him occupied while we were on our last hours of the flight. Hill and Fury made their check-up calls on the hologram phone.

The night was my day and the sun was coming up over the city as we landed back home to the Tower. The skyline never ceased to surprise me from here. Reminded me of when I first came to live with my uncle Stark...

My adopted dad had been friends with Tony since their college days. My father had become one of the highest-ranking members of SHIELD, a Level 9 to be exact. The same as Hill and Coulson, who both had been frequent visitors to our house. And that wasn't the only reason why.

It was because of who I was...

I was basically a vampire. Blood drinking, never ageing. It was a curse I had been gifted with since the 1600s. All the other myths about vampires were false, though. I loved garlic bread and selfies were dumb to me but not impossible. Mirrors could see me, and no, I didn't burn in the sun. Hell, I had a cross above my bed, so no, those dont bother me So everything was lies surrounding me.

SHIELD had found me in Cairofreeze with other things Red Skull had wanted to keep in case things went south in the war. But he had never had a chance to unfreeze me, seeing as Steve was busy on his tail. And so, I had stayed frozen and locked up in a freezer for over 90 years. When they had found me, it had been my new father who discovered me, wanting to adopt me as a favor being cashed in to Fury. And so, the rest was history.

I went to high school, got my diploma and wanted to go to college for the first time ever. Before, all my life had been was just running, running, running and staying off people's radar to make sure I wasn't found out as a freak of nature and experimented on again.

I drank coffee as my blood substitute. You really don't need blood unless you drain yourself out or go to the point of madness, which is what happens when you don't drink once a month. Thankfully, I had a blood bag in my room back home I'd been sipping on since I was unfrozen years ago. I was good and glad for my new family every day.

That I would give my life for any day...

The plane landed and I was glad to be home. Everyone got out, groggily grabbing their equipment and filing out. The only person waiting for us on the roof was Pepper. I made fake gagging noises as Tony and Pepper kissed, holding hands and going inside. Clint and Natasha smiled at me, Steve shook his head playfully, disapproving. Bruce smirked, fist-bumping me on his way.

We all sat in the living room. And, of course, my uncle headed right for the bar and started pouring drinks. "Well, team, another mission accomplished!" he said, getting out several glasses and pouring alcohol in them, a grin plastered on his face. "I'd say that deserves a drink!" Then, he started passing them out to everyone and pointed at me.

"Not you, Cassie." I stuck my tongue out at him and gave him the bird when he looked away to give his Spice Girl her drink. Steve saw it though and frowned."Cass, that was rude." I played innocent. "What? I didn't do anything!" I exclaimed lightly and looked at the others for help. Clint gestured to me with his glass and a wink, "Dude, she didn't do anything but shake her fist at him with her tongue stuck out." Nat nodded along.

Steve looked exasperated. "No, she used her finger, the middle one!" Natasha winked at me and looked at Steve. "Oh really? Care to show me?"

Steve flipped Nat off. Thor was just walking by and gasped loudly, looking at Steve in shock.

"Why, Soldier! I hardly believe that's how you treat a lady! Man of Iron, the soldier is treating the Spider with disrespect!" He was tattling! He... he..." Tony looked and raised an eyebrow at Steve.

"Steve, I know she can drive you nuts at times, but the bird? Seriously? I had thought better of you..." I was trying so hard not to laugh right now. Soon Steve was glaring at me and pointing.

"Cass did it first!" He tried defending himself. Tony shook his head. "So a 19 year old flips me off, so you need to flip off Natasha? Monkey see, monkey do much?" Steve shook his head angrily and sat down in a chair away from us. I felt a little bad but I knew everyone was just joking.

This stuff happened all the time and Steve knew it too. It had just been a long day for us all. I picked up my backpack and slung it over my shoulder.

"Night all, see you tomorrow night dark and early!"

"Night Cass."

"Night Cassie."

"Goodnight Lady Cassandra."

I passed by the super soldier and gave him a hug. "Night Steve, see you later." He nodded hugging back. "Sweet dreams Cass..." I smiled and headed to my room ready to sleep like the dead.

Or, undead for that matter. Hehehe...

My room was the Avengers library. Two stories of wrap-around shelves and fully stocked with volumes. On the lower level were the couches and chairs, a huge table off to one side and a desktop computer on a desk to the corner of the room. The fireplace was looking lonely so I conjured a flame in the grate. I went to the room at the back and looked around my purple and black bedroom, throwing my backpack down on the floor.

Getting in bed as the sun rose up.
