It was the following day and I was sitting on the couch with Clint, Nat and Thor. The formers had a mission tonight and the other had another date planned with his girlfriend. I was on eBay looking for a shirt to wear to PAX. It's where you go watch and meet your favorite YouTubers in real life. Like the Comic-Con of YouTube, basically. My friend and I were going because of three reasons. Markiplier, Jackesepticeye, and because she was Mark's all-time rival for the crown of Five Nights at Freddie's. It can't be helped when your best friend is a major competition with your favorite YouTuber.
It made picking sides extremely difficult when they brought me into their little spats. But it wasn't really fighting, more like... friendly competition... Plus, Mark's friend and editor, Sara Smith, was a good friend of mine. Heard she found this really mysterious guy and fell in love. They were getting married this winter. Hoped I found that one day...
The shirts I were bidding on were from the hit series 'Who killed Markipler?' It was one of my favorites and it was just too funny. It had the butler, Benjamin, on the floor crying and holding a dustpan. "Master would be soooo displeased ...If you don't wear this shirt!" I had to have it! It was too good to not bid on, right?
I won a pair of them and sent my friend hers to her place in California so we could wear them when we showed up together at PAX. We had just four weeks left until the big day and I couldn't be more excited! During that time, Clint and Nat left for their mission. Thor was getting ready to leave himself when he turned to look at me.
"Lady Cassandra?"
"I told you, it's Cass, just Cass, Thor." He nodded and cleared his throat. "Yes, well, Lady Cass. Have you finished the spare room yet?" I gasped and threw off my blanket, closing my laptop fast. I forgot all about going shopping for Loki's bedroom! I got up and picked up my stuff.
"Shit! Sweet mother of Odin!" I cursed and Thor looked at me in confusion. "Odin has no mother, he has been alive since the Great Begining... " I groaned, "Shut up, Thor. It was a figure of speech." He shrugged and entered the elevator.
I made a mad dash for my bedroom for my purse and jacket. Maybe too much of a dash, because when I got back to the living room, Steve was by the elevator and watching me with a concerned look on his face.
I waved to him and he just nodded. "Where do you think you're going so late at night?" He whispered to me and I rolled my eyes. He kept forgetting I was nocturnal, didn't he? I sighed and took a deep breath. "Steve. One, I'm nocturnal, remember? I'm awake in the night. And two, it's just shopping, ok? Not like I'm out there doing drugs or something. Another thing: Even if I do get into some kind of trouble, I can always blast them into the Shadow Dimension."
Steve still looked concerned, running a hand through his hair and looking down. "It's just that I don't think you should go into the city at night and all by yourself." Now I rose an eyebrow at him. Was he trying to say that just because I'm a girl meant I couldn't go into the city at night? For real? He saw me kick ass on a daily basis, so what was his problem now, huh?
"Steve, I'm no damsel in distress here. I can fend for myself, you know." He nodded. "I know that Cass. But the city can be a really dangerous place and I hate to see you hurt." Then he looked somewhat sternly into my eyes and I just nodded back. "So would my uncle Tony. But he also understands I'm perfectly capable of watching myself in the city." I went past him and pressed the 'Down' button, looking back at him with crossed arms. "Listen, Steve, I'm not trying to be angry or anything, but let me ask this," I said and the elevator doors opened up. I went inside, continuing to stare at the Super Soldier sternly.
"Yeah?"
"How is it you don't know a thing about women?" The last thing I saw before the doors shut was a shocked look on his face. I guess my question really surprised him. Poor Steve. I felt bad the way I treated him, but come on, he was being kinda sexist back there. I mean, come on dude! I was a girl, yeah. But it wasn't like we were on a mission or something. It was Bed Bath and beyond for goodness sakes. Hardly think it was run by HYDRA.
