Loki POV (Brought to you by an angel in a trench coat)

Not even one day on this accursed planet of mortals, and it seemed as if my brother had an enemy within his little group of merry world-savers. I had one of those com devices in my ear and could hear everything said inside the room where the nourishment was kept. A 'kitchen', I believe it was called. And a woman as an enemy no less... Very curious...

I hadn't left this room all day for the sheer disadvantage of seeing my loving brother and his little girlfriend. The pleasure would likely make me vomit from so much... affection. Something I didn't need.

Or deserve.

I looked again at the note left in my new chambers with a smirk on my face. Whoever owned this room and library beyond, they sure were not going to tolerate any breaking of their rules.

"Loki,"  It read, " Welcome to my spare room and library. And Earth of course... gotta include the whole damn planet that hates you right? Anyways, welcome. I do have a few rules if you're going to stay in my good graces as well as living in my spare room. Here they are below.

- No destruction of my property or books.

- No leaving books around. Get one out, put it back!

Got it? Good. Now, I believe that's everything. If you follow my rules, I think we will get along famously

-C "

I was curious. Who was this 'C' and what were they thinking when they offered their spare bedroom to house me? Me? Their enemy number one? Someone who was either clearly dim-witted or was foolish enough to believe in giving second chances to villains. Whoever they were, they were not going to see me today. I would stay in here as long as possible.

Then the boredom set in.

I stared at the wall for the whole day. The blue sky outside my window turned dark and I heard some noises outside my door. However, I resisted the urge to investigate the source. Could it be the mysterious C? But then again, I resisted the urge by picturing my brother's face.

Umm... no.

Then more boredom and a deafening silence shortly thereafter made me rethink some choices. So, I ventured into the library beyond my door and took in the inventory of the room. Wrap around, two stories stocked full of volumes... It was adequate. A fairly good amount for a Midgardian to own.

I began to browse the shelves, starting with the one closest to me. I touched the spines of the books lightly and with the most tender care I had. The only care I had was for my mother and my books. No one and nothing else mattered and could be thrown to the wolves for all I cared.

I had cared about my family. Before I was clearly unwanted by my father and brother. Now the blonde wanted to make peace with me? Did he? After all these years? I wasn't so sure about that. Granted, now I was out of that cell and there was much more freedom here. But at what price was I paying?

"Ahem?" I jumped, hearing the voice behind me. No one snuck up on me. Ever! This was astonishing in its own right. I turned around to face a raven-haired creature with piercing green orbs and soft pink lips, skin as pale as the snow.

And a curious glare fixed right on me.

I made an attempt to be polite by making a courteous nod. "I am Loki, of Asgard." The maiden scoffed. "I know who you are, Loki. I helped fight you, FYI." she said, rolling her eyes and handing me a goblet of some substance. I took it and tasted it to be polite. It was bitter but sweet.

"Ah, thank you, uh...?" I asked, implying to get her name from her. The woman shrugged, throwing her hands in her pockets. "It's Cassandra, but please, for the sake of my sanity, call me Cass, or Lady Cass if you must put the 'lady' in front of it, okay? I get enough of my full name from your brother."

When she mentioned my sibling, distaste entered her tone and I smirked at her. "So you were the one arguing with Thor earlier." I watched as she brushed it off. "He pissed me off before my coffee could kick in and I couldn't keep my thoughts to myself. That was his problem." She was so sure of herself, so matter of fact and I greatly admired that. My brother always had a way of doing that. Even back home.

We sat staring at each other for a moment before she cleared her throat and gestured around her. "Listen to my rules, please put a book back when you're done, and we will be chill, okay?" she said, making a point to me with a raised eyebrow.

"And you're not angry at me? Suspicious of me in any way?" I asked curiously. This woman didn't seem at all impressed with me. Like anything I did didn't change her from giving me equal treatment. "Help yourself to any of the books, I'll be over here enjoying my morning..." She began to walk away and sipped from her cup. "Or what's left of it." she mumbled under her breath.

I searched the various shelves until I found a suitable novel on this world's history and sat across from the one known as Cassandra. "Cassandra?" I asked curiously sometime later. She looked up from her book. "Are you an enchantress?" She laughed at my question, peering over the top of her book. "You could say that. Why?"

I shook my head and opened my own book. "I was merely curious. Not many people can treat me as you do. It's either with hostility or violence these days and it makes me curious." I said to my surprise. She must have been as well, judging by her face. I took it she rose her eyebrow a lot.

She shrugged looking back at her book.  "I'm not one to wrongly distrust people, because of what others say about them. I give all a chance at first." Her green eyes never left my blue ones. "Especially since the last time I saw you, your mind was at war with your scepter."

She knew.

About him!

Curious.
