Chapter 21: Rescued

Jamie groaned as she woke up. She looked around to see Jotunheim. She then noticed she was tied up while dangling over freezing water. She was still in her pajamas and robe and her feet were centimeters from the water.

"You're finally awake," Hela smirked.

Jamie slowly looked toward her, shivering uncontrollably.

"W-What do y-you w-want from m-me?" Jamie demanded.

"It's not necessarily you. I want Asgard. With Odin dead, Asgard will be handed down to his firstborn: me. They all think it will be Thor, but that's not true. But there is one more piece to the puzzle. Because Loki is the rightful king of Jotunheim and I wish to rule all nine realms and more, I must annihilate any obstacle in my way. And Jotunheim is the first of many realms to fall under my control. And what better way than to finish the king than to kill his queen," Hela explained.

Jamie was beyond shocked about this.

"H-His queen? W-What are y-you t-talking about?" Jamie asked.

"Did you think your dreams were the only ones I invaded? Before I did it to you, I went into his mind to see what was most precious to him. I saw he loved you before he even moved in with you. And when he heard you were part Frost Giant like him, that was the confirmation he needed to propose to you. But sadly, he won't get the chance," Hela smirked.

She approached the rope that held Jamie and formed a dagger. Jamie became scared beyond belief as she realized what Hela was about to do.

"HELA!" Loki's voice sounded.

Both women looked to see Loki, full of rage and hate toward his sister. Jamie smiled as her teeth chattered. Then she noticed the Avengers, including her brother, came with him. They were ready to take Hela on.

"You think you picked a cold enough place to kidnap somebody?" Bruce commented.

"Jarvis, I want you to record this whole mission," Tony said.

"Of course, sir. Recording now," Jarvis informed.

"Give Jamie back! Now!" Loki demanded.

"I'm afraid that's not an option, brother. You see, I realized that the only way to get rid of you wasn't to kill the true king of Jotunheim, but to rid him of his queen. Then maybe you'll remember where your true place is," Hela said.

"It doesn't have to be this way," Thor remarked.

"Yes it does. For a while, I admired Loki's work. The mischief, the lies, the destruction. I felt we were connected because of his jealousy. But then this bitch came into his life and made him soft, weak, pathetic. So now she and Midgard will pay for it," Hela snarled.

"You're wrong. Because I fell in love with her, I finally have something worth fighting for. Even when I thought she was fully mortal, I loved her no matter what. I left my old life behind and I will gladly take Jamie's and Earth's place if it means they don't have to suffer from your wrath," Loki remarked.

Jamie let a tear slide down her frozen cheek at the thought of losing Loki. She couldn't live without Loki. The other Avengers were taken back by what Loki said. He was willing to risk his life for someone who he thought was fully human and Earth. Hela looked at Jamie, who had bits of ice forming on her body.

"Well, isn't that sweet. Loki, the God of Mischief, is willing to give his life to protect the planet he invaded and the woman he loves," she mocked then added to Jamie, "Too bad you won't be here to appreciate it."

Then she cut the rope and Jamie fell into the freezing water.

"NO!" Loki and Ethan shouted.

"Avengers! Assemble!" Steve shouted.
