Jamie couldn't sleep a wink. She looked at her clock to see it was 2:40 a.m.

"Great, Jamie

"Great, Jamie. You're so lucky you have the day off tomorrow," she told herself.

Then she heard a crash from Loki's bedroom. Jamie immediately got up, grabbed a bat from her closet, and ran to his room. She opened the door to see the lamp from the nightstand on the ground in pieces.

(A/N Loki's room.)

Loki was still asleep, but he was tossing and turning with a look of distress on his face. Jamie put the bat by the door and approached Loki, careful not to step on any of the broken pieces of the lamp. She sat on the bed and caressed his cheek, which seemed to calm him down a little.

"Loki?" she called gently.

He breathed heavily but seemed to hear her.

"Loki, wake up," Jamie said.

Loki's eyes fluttered open as he took a deep breath. He looked at Jamie, who took her hand off his cheek.

"Jamie?" he questioned.

"Yeah; it's me. Are you okay?" she asked.

Loki sat up to reveal he was shirtless, making Jamie blush.

(A/N Just add the long, black hair.)

"I-I think so

"I-I think so. Just a nightmare," he said.

"You wanna talk about it?" Jamie offered.

He sighed and looked away.

"It was about people not accepting me in this world. I suppose that when I decided to make a change, I started to worry about what others will think of me," Loki explained.

Jamie felt pity for the God of Mischief. She figured this was the first time he's ever felt this way. On the outside anyway. She knew that he felt this way when he felt overshadowed by Thor, but he kept it covered by his mischief and need to rule. But to see it for herself was really surprising.

She brought her knuckle under his chin and got him to look at her.

"Loki, this is normal. We all care about what other people think about us. We're looking for a way to get their approval no matter what. But the truth is you can't please everyone. The only one you should be trying to please is yourself. You should also know that the ones who know you are right there to help you," Jamie said.

"I don't know if anyone would be willing to do that for me," he whispered.

She smiled, took his hands, and told him, "I would."

Loki looked into her eyes and smiled. He let his forehead rest against hers, making her smile. Then he noticed the broken lamp on the floor.

"I'm sorry about the lamp," he apologized, taking his forehead off hers.

She looked at it then shrugged as she assured, "Don't worry about it. My brother has done worse damage when he's awake."

Loki laughed a little at that.

"Well, I better get to bed. I still haven't fallen asleep yet," Jamie said, getting up.

"Yes. You mustn't be late for work in the morning," Loki smirked.

"Actually, I have the day off. So you'll have to put up with me all day," she mentioned jokingly.

"Well, I look forward to it," he remarked.

Jamie giggled then went to her room. There were no more incidents that night.
