There is a time that comes in our life where we question our existence on this earth... and whether we are the only powerful living beings on this planet. Human beings are smart species and are sometimes a bit presumptuous when it comes to the unknown. We take a lot of pride in describing our various accomplishments and the enormous amount of power that we hold. I have always been proud of the human race. But on this fall night, I stand surrounded by darkness and breeze and I have never felt so useless. Humans have created a wonderful world in which we inhabit. But we are fools, because amongst us there are many that do not contain the slightest bit of humanity, yet they share our world... walking as if they own the land. We are not even safe on our own planet. Even though the people falling under me looked like humans and the person standing right in front of me does too, they are not humans, but much worse... and thousand times more powerful than us. Not many people have any idea about this. These creatures who call themselves werewolves have control over this forest. They dominate over humans. No. I won't let them succeed now. I will not let them turn me into one of them. I have to fight. A fight that is being forced upon me for reasons that are yet hidden. I feel like a fool who has still not discovered the full truth about this cruel world and its creatures. Unfortunately, I am not powerful enough to defeat them. I need help. And that help is not standing in front of me. I can't trust him. He might be one of them. A hunter, he calls himself. I hardly trust the people in my own school, so trusting this stranger is completely illogical. I have to take help from someone who I can completely trust. Police.
I need to ignore him, go back to my house, and call 911. I randomly choose a path to leave even though I have no idea where it will take me. But for now, all that matters is that it will take me away from these dangerous people. But before I can take a step forward.
"Wait!" he said, catching my hand. His firm hold was hard to escape. "You can't go." His voice was deep - a voice that could soothe you to sleep without you even knowing it.
I tilted my head to his direction and looked straight at his multicoloured eyes, and then directed my eyes towards his hand to leave mine. He quickly took the hint and did so.
"Why can't I go? I have to. I need help. These creatures are not going to make me their queen or succumb to my every wish. No. They are going to make me one of them. And they will reach here any second so before they do I need to leave" I replied. This reason was so direct that I hoped he understood, giving him no choice but to let me go.
"I am not stopping you. Just leaving won't do it. They are coming for you and nothing can stop them - even an army full of soldiers won't do."
"So what exactly do you suggest I do?" I said raising my brow in curiosity. I know that he is not going to come up with a golden idea and that what I have planned in my mind is the right plan of action. Let's see what this smartass has to say.
"I suggest that you trust me and I will help you get away from them." Is he serious? Does he even know what he is up against? Those huge human/wolves will cut him to pieces in a matter of seconds. Does he think I am delusional to believe his vague and spur-of-the-moment plan?
"Thanks. But no," I said nodding a clear no just in case he did not understand. I started walking in the direction I thought could lead me home. This guy is insane. He is twenty years old and probably has no life experience. He should be in college. I am already not thinking straight; I do not need another messed up person in my life now or ever.
"At least hear me out for once! And by the way, your house is in that direction," he said, pointing to my right.
"Why should I trust you?" I said.
"Okay. First, just follow my directions and in twenty minutes I can make you believe me. And if you don't reach home within exactly twenty minutes then I will never show you my face again. Just hear me out. Please?" he said with his lips firmly held together and his hopeful eyes waiting for my reply.
