I woke up with a jerk, and tumbled down the sofa with a thud! Every inch of my body was in pain. Especially my head. It felt like a thousand needles were piercing my delicate little brain, and it was not a pleasant feeling. I must have fallen asleep on the couch after eating dinner last night. As I dumped the takeout containers into the trash can, the pain hit me again. I used my fingers to massage my head and soothe the pain, till I could walk upstairs and find a painkiller pill. My room was a complete mess. I always keep my room clean, but there has been so much going on in my life these past few days, that I haven't had the time to clean it. I opened my closet and took out a small pillbox. I found the one that I needed. There was still some water left in my water bottle, so I took a sip and swallowed the pill right away. I began searching for my phone, so I could check what the time was. There were still two hours left before school started. Wow, I was up so early. All of a sudden, it all came back to me - my dream, or should I say my nightmare.

Was it even real? Had I seen my Mom? This has never happened to me before - at least not in the past ten years that I have lived without her. I have never had a dream with my Mom in it. And wolves too. I had never even seen a werewolf before, so how did they enter my subconscious mind? In my dream, I saw not one, but three. My imagination has started to run wild. Dad had not come home last night, as usual. I have got to get my hands on that book in his book cabinet! It contains all the answers to my questions.

"Anna?"

Now, that is the person I needed to distract me from my confused state and get me back on track to being a nerd and worrying about my homework. I always do my homework one week before it is due, so that I don't have to stress about it at the last minute. "Coming down in fifteen minutes," I replied loudly so that she could hear me.

I headed straight into my bathroom. I took a five-minute shower and put on my favourite high-waisted ripped jeans and a white top with a pink hoodie over it. I tied my hair into a high ponytail - I needed to get back to the normal Anna and look studious like I always do. I took my backpack and filled it with the books that I needed for the day. I then wore my white sneakers. I was about to leave when I realized that I had forgotten my phone. Oops. I ran back upstairs and grabbed it. There was one new message, and it was not from any of my social media, but rather it was just a plain text sent by Dad. "I will come back home as soon as possible."

I locked the front door and put the house keys into my backpack. As I turned around, Susan was standing near me – a bit too close for comfort. I immediately took a few steps back.

"What the hell, Susan?" I said in frustration.

"Anna, you remember what you have to say to someone today, right?" Her tone was sarcastic, and her eyebrows were raised way higher than they normally are. I started walking ahead because I knew this topic would be a long one to discuss, so we may as well start walking to school in the meantime.

"Yes. I do know that I have to say... sorry to... Ethan." I can't believe that I am going to apologize to a guy when I haven't even done anything wrong. I mean maybe I had been a bit rude to him, but I had told him to stay away from me and he had not listened. There were many groups of students he could have made friends with at school, but no, he had to come to Susan and I. Anyway, I have many reasons why I should not apologize to him. But Susan is not going to let me say one word against him. Susan likes him. As a best friend, I should help her get him.

"Absolutely right. And don't worry, I will help you start a conversation so you can smoothly slip in your apology. And then he will forgive you, and we can be a group of three friends. Of course, after I start dating him, we will find the perfect guy for you, and then..." After she said the word 'date,' my mind could not register anything else, so I had to interrupt her.
