The second he said 'werewolf' my heart skipped a beat. The last time that I had heard this word was when I was six years old - when my Dad used to tell me bedtime stories.

One day, Dad had told me a story about werewolves, and he had specifically said that this story was really special. Dad had said that thousands of years ago even when human beings had not existed, werewolves were here on Earth. Those creatures are very dangerous.

They have huge fangs that can bite into anything, even metal and stones. The worst part is that they are immortal. They can only be killed by a silver stake whose tip is covered in a dead werewolf's blood. These creatures have tortured every living thing around them and killed them in plain sight. These creatures also have enemies, who are called vampires but that is a whole other story.

Vampires are also no less than werewolves - they are purely evil. So in short, all that I had heard about werewolves was that they were dangerous and evil.

"Hello? I am talking to you." James started waving his hands in front of me so that I could snap out of my thoughts.

"See, Mr James you have got the wrong person," I started explaining to him, to assure him that maybe he had spotted the wrong person. "I have no connection with anything supernatural. Even my parents are just normal people and..."

"Stop. You don't get it. It has nothing to do with you or your family. I am only concerned with the power that you have within you. That's what I want. Well, we will get to that later." James was stern with his words. But I, on the other hand, was not interested in the details and reasoning. Inside, I knew that they have not made a mistake. I am the one they want.

They want to turn me into a wolf. NO. They can't. I am only seventeen. I have not yet lived my life - they can't just snatch it away from me. I got so tense that I started breathing heavily. Anxiety took over my body and I could not control it. I started shivering. I was someone who was never noticed in school; if Kate was turned into a wolf, it would make more sense since she is popular and important to the people around her. But why me? 'No' was the only word running through my mind. I have to escape. I have to run. Looking around me, I could only see men.

All eyes were on me. James was talking even though he knew I was not listening; I guess he had a habit of such reactions. I have to be smart in this situation. There have been people in this position before. I have to do something that is totally opposite of what these men will expect me to do. Think, Anna. Yes!

"James. I am ready," I said with not a lot of confidence; if I seem too confident, then he may guess that I have a plan. So I played it smart.

"Okay," he smirked and replied with his eyes slightly closed.

"Look! Is that a vampire?" I screamed. Everyone looked in the direction in which my finger was pointing. I saw the nails on James' hand grow many inches outwards - his werewolf instinct was awoken, and every other pack member turned to look the same way.

I took this golden chance and ran in the opposite direction, deeper into the woods. I ran, not thinking about anything else but my legs moving forward. I could hear the footsteps behind me – they were moving at a speed that was much faster than mine.

"Hey, stop!"

"Stop running!"

"We will get you."

All these voices - of the people standing behind James like a pack - surrounded me. It sounded like a trap to me, but I kept running. These people are insane. They are talking about things that do not even exist - at least that's what I thought. I was not only running away from these animals but running away from all these... Dhummmb. Crash!!

I not only lost my concentration but crashed into someone and fell. There was a sudden pain in my back as I landed on the ground with extra weight on me. I rolled over a few times and then stopped; there was a man on top of me. I did not think for a second and started screaming.

They caught me and now I am going to be turned into a creature, an animal with sharp teeth. No. I won't let them do this to me. I will not stop until I am free. But his hand immediately covered my mouth, silencing my scream altogether. I bit his hand with all the strength that I had. But he was smart, and he covered my mouth with a cloth. Now I could not bite that. Damn. I could not see his face too clearly. The moonlight was shining in such a way, that I could only see his eyes - green with blue and a hint of gold. Wow, now that is an amazing eye colour. For a few minutes we remained in that position, and I could not feel any pain - his eyes were enough to distract me. Then, he moved. That is a very heavy body. What does he eat? I was all set to surrender to him, and let him tie me up and take me to James to be turned into a wolf.

"I am sorry. I had to do that. If you had continued screaming, then they would easily find out that you are here. And I am not ready to handle so many people at a time. I mean, I would easily have..."

"Wait a minute. You are not one of them?" I asked with a hint of joy that maybe I am safe - but then again, who is he? A vampire? Oh god, how many different kinds of creatures do you want me to see in a night!

"Yes. Oh, I am so sorry. I did not even introduce myself. I am Ethan." He stepped forward to shake my hand and now I could see his face crystal-clear. I bet you his eyes are nothing, compared to his face. He was so fair. His jet-black hair was in a mess, but a perfect mess. That facial structure was gorgeous. He was wearing simple jeans. He could easily become an actor. His shirt had patches of sweat, which were probably because he had been running around.

He looked pretty young - maybe 19 or 20 years old. I should stop drooling over him because I might not know who he will turn out to be. He must also be feeling awkward that I am staring at him as I have never seen a boy before. But compared to the boys in my school, he looks so good! I decided to speak.

"Annabeth. But you can call me Anna." What the hell did I just say? I never let anyone call me Anna, except my Dad. Not even Susan. If she hears about this, I am surely dead. But anyway, I shook his hand.

"Nice name," he replied with a smile. Seeing him smile made me involuntarily smile too. And then I stopped smiling. I have never behaved like this in front of any guy before, so why him?

"Thanks. I hope you don't mind, but if you are not one of them, then who are you?" I asked out of curiosity. He looked like a normal human, but I cannot trust my eyes after everything I have witnessed tonight.

He said in a deep voice with pride that flashed through his eyes and soul, "I am a werewolf hunter."

Ethan the werewolf hunter has entered the scene now! p.s I had this huge ass crush on Dylan O'Brien when I wrote this story so of course he is the character inspiration for Ethan
