Susan smiled back and closed her windows. Her windows had a wooden frame and were covered by burgundy curtains. I breathed a sigh of relief. I had successfully hidden the light, which had seemed almost impossible to do. I took the crystal out of my drawer and wore it around my neck. After two minutes, the purple glow faded and then it completely disappeared. Now, this is what I call a stressful morning. As if things were not already so complicated, but now I had to worry about more things that were weird and had no scientific reasoning.
I put on my casual baby-pink top with 'sassy' written diagonally across it in white. I paired it with black sweatpants to keep myself comfy. I tied my hair into a high ponytail with a black hairband. I hurried to put all the necessary books into my backpack and went straight down to the dining room. Dad was sitting on the table, eating two fried eggs, some toast, and a glass of mixed fruit juice. In front of him, was the same breakfast laid out for me, but instead of juice, there was a glass of milk.
It suddenly occurred to me that it had been a long time since we had had breakfast together. He was busy with his work and I was so tangled up with my own problems, that I would always carry my breakfast to school and have it on the go. The past few days had been so busy that he had even left the only story he ever told me – about Mark and Jessie - unfinished. Sometimes I wish I had more time to talk to my Dad about all the things I am going through. A sinking feeling came over me – what if I never get a chance to talk to him again? My dad's safety was the most important thing to me. I decided at that moment, to confront James so I can solve this problem once and for all. The more I elongate the process, the more complications will keep coming up. I cannot wait any longer. I will meet up with James after school.
I went and sat on my chair in front of Dad to eat breakfast. Dad saw me and smiled. "Good morning, Anna," he said. I looked at him and noticed that his wrinkles had become even more prominent, which revealed to me how fast he was ageing. The bags under his eyes clearly indicated how tired he was after working so hard the past few weeks.
"Good morning Dad," I replied, trying to hide the sadness I felt as I looked at him. Dad and I had a good talk, after which I headed out to school with Susan.
There was nothing special going on in class today - we had regular lectures. As the bell rang for the lunch break, I took Ethan to the side. Susan had left to submit her assignment that was due two days ago. This was the perfect time to let Ethan know that I was going to meet James. I need back-up just in case the conversation between James and I doesn't go so smoothly.
"What is wrong with you today? Are you sick?" Now that is a reaction I expected from him. He was pissed, but he did not have to be so angry. After all, this is my life, so I can do what I want.
"Ethan, I really need to do this today. Or else I will always be confused," I said, in a sweet convincing voice that I always use on Susan when I want help.
"NO," he gave a clear-cut answer. And he started to walk past me to leave class. If he thinks he can stop the conversation whenever he wants, he is wrong. If I started the conversation, I will end it too.
"I am not done talking, Ethan," I said, in a tone higher than I wanted to. Good start, Anna!
I turned to see if he had stopped, and he had; he was halfway to the door. The way he turned and looked at me was a bit scary at that moment. I managed to control myself.
"I am going, and I did not ask for your opinion. So take it as just a piece of information that I am telling you that I will be there. That's it." I hope I sounded confident enough to make it clear who was in charge.
"Fine," he said with a blank expression on his face. Now that had worked really fast! A smile started forming across my face, when he said, "I will come with you and that is my own decision."

We walked past the huge trees in the woods to meet James. I was still not sure if he would be there at this hour in the evening. Ethan had won the argument in the end, but we made a promise that only I will talk to James, and Ethan will hide behind the trees. We didn't want James to know that a hunter was accompanying me, as it would put the werewolves at risk and make them likely to be defensive. My heart was beating faster and faster as we got close to the destination. My hands were ice cold and I pressed them together, to prevent them from shivering. The two things I most feared would be in front of me. I carried the crystal necklace inside my bag just in case the purple light randomly came out from my hands again.
We reached the middle of the woods. There was a large open space with a twenty-meter radius. Ethan immediately hid behind a tree and I stood in the centre of the space, alone.
"James, are you there? James!" I screamed, to make sure he heard my voice. James came out from behind one of the trees. His fair skin and yellow glowing eyes gave me goose-bumps. He slowly made his way towards me. After a while, I noticed the smirk on his face; it made me remember why I hate him so much. Today I will face him with all the strength I have, and I will get my answers.
"Annabeth... long time no see?" His mature, deep voice made me realize that I was weak in front of him.
"James, why are you so keen on making me a werewolf? I need reasons," I said after taking a deep breath. I did not want to play around anymore.
"Wow, what's the hurry?" he smirked again. Ughh I hate him.
After noticing my serious expression, he replied in a slightly more serious tone, "Because you are the special child who is cursed. You will give me power. I will make you a part of my pack once the night is mine. I will do whatever it takes to take that magic of yours and make it mine."
I did not understand a single word he said. Do I have magical powers? What am I?
