"She is telling the truth, Anna," Ethan decided to jump in. This is one of the things that annoyed me, but now that Ethan was a friend I wouldn't mind it.

"Who told you about the disappearance?" I asked Ethan, wondering if he might know some more details or maybe even who was behind it.

"My dad," he said, and went back to complete his project. With that, Mrs Martha entered the class and started her lecture on America's lakes and rivers.

I told Ethan to meet me outside the school near the lunch tables after Math period was over. This was the perfect time to ask him about the disappearance because Susan would not be there, and I would not have to answer her questions about why I am so interested in this disappearance. If Susan is kept away from this dark world, it will be better for her. She acts stupid and overconfident at times, but underneath, she is the sweetest girl I know.

"What is it?" Ethan asked. He didn't look confused, because he knew what I was going to ask him about.

"Does this whole situation involve werewolves?" I asked him and then shrugged.

"Not that I know of. Anyway, I submitted the project on time which means I can go home and treat myself to a nap." He smiled, completely ignoring everything that was about to say. He looked towards the road as if he was planning to leave. Here I was, talking about something really important and he was thinking about taking a nap?! Did he even listen to what I was saying or was he just trying to evade the topic? I hated how confusing he can be. I can tell when everyone else in high school is being real or fake, but Ethan is very difficult to read. He was about to leave when I grabbed his arm. I felt the same tingly feeling when I touched him. He turned his head to look at me, and his brown eyes amused me. I realized that I was staring at his perfectly carved face, and then his pink lips. Speak, Anna. Speak and don't focus on this awkward yet wonderful feeling you get when he looks at you.

"Stop changing the topic and tell me exactly what you know."

I was annoyed at him before, and still am, so I made it obvious. I wanted to make sure that he knew I wouldn't let him leave until he gave me a satisfying answer.

"Fine, but this is not at all related to the disappearance of that boy. James' pack is not here so maybe there is a chance that some other pack has invaded the area, and broken the bond."

I was confused, "What is a bond?" I decided to ask what I felt was worth the explanation.

"It is a very important ritual performed by the pack of wolves to guard their territory and indirectly tell other packs that they can't enter the area - just like street dogs." He spoke loudly, but not loud enough for people around to hear. Most of the students had already gone home, so it wasn't that risky to speak about this in public. I remembered that Susan's class must have also ended. She will be here soon. But I guess Ethan understood what I was thinking.

"I have to go; I will tell you the details next time okay?" he said as he stepped away from me.

"What's the rush? I thought today was your chill day?" I said as I tilted my head towards him in confusion. I expected this vagueness from him as usual. I did not want him to go at all. What were these thoughts going through my mind? I had to stop thinking.

"I remembered this important thing that I had to do with my father after school. I am really late for that so, got to go. Bye." He waved, turned towards the road and headed home. Sometimes he used to get picked up from school, and other times he would just walk home. After completing such a long walk so often, he probably didn't need to go to the gym ever.

"Hey, who are you looking at?" Susan tapped my back. She was standing on the exact spot where Ethan stood a few minutes ago.

"Nothing," I said.

"Where's Ethan? Did he leave?" She looked around trying to find him.

"Yes. He did leave. His dad had to have an important talk with him and he was getting late, so he left."

"He left without telling me goodbye. I'll get back at him for that tomorrow," she said, rolling her eyes in frustration.

"Susan, he is a friend - not the guy you went on a date with last night – who, by the way, you never even bothered telling me about," I replied with a smirk. At least I've gotten tips from Ethan on how to flip a conversation away in my favour. It was anyway something I wanted to ask Susan about since I last had last seen her.

"Let's talk about this in the mall please?" she showed me her puppy-dog eyes again and I couldn't refuse. I knew she felt guilty about hiding this from me, so I decided to wait until she was comfortable enough to tell me. "But... why the mall?" I realized that going to the mall today was not part of today's plan.

"Anna, we have a party on Saturday and that's just a day away. We need to buy an amazing dress for you." She hooked her arm in mine and dragged me towards a car, from which her mom waved hi.

"But I don't need a dress. I'll take one from your closet."

"Oh no no!" she nodded. "You have worn my dresses too often. I need to find you a new dress – one that you own, for a change." She pushed me into the backseat of the car, while she went and sat next to her mom in the passenger seat.

"Okay fine, then I won't go to the party since you are embarrassed by me taking your clothes," I groaned.

"First of all, I don't get embarrassed about you, silly! And secondly, I am gifting you this dress, so shut your mouth because we are going." Now that's what I call sealing the deal. I can never argue with her, and even if I do, I always lose. I agreed to go.

We reached the mall in fifteen minutes and within just a few moments, Susan had picked out a ton of dresses for me to try on. Gosh, this is going to take forever. We started with the shop both of us loved to go to - Forever 21. This shop had dresses that were always on trend, and it was also cost-effective and made from good quality material. So here I was, with a ton of dresses in my hand from the very first store we had entered. I was waiting in the queue for the fitting room, and I could tell that the people in line behind me were annoyed about how many items I was trying on and how long it would take for their turn.

After waiting for ten minutes, I went into the fitting room, accompanied by my stylist - Susan. I started with my least favourite and went on from there. I tried on the pink dress that stopped right above my knees.

"Oh no, too girly. Try another one," and the rambling of my stylist began.

"No, too desperate."

"Uh, not at all flattering."

"These dresses show more than they should."

"Yes! That's the one. I can't believe it! We found your dress so fast." UHH, it was not the dress that I thought would be my favourite; the one that I hadn't even tried on yet. So here I was wearing a black lace dress that was sheer, but it covered the right parts of my body to make it look elegant still. As I peeked into the mirror once again, I noticed that the dress made my curves look good. It fit my body as if it was made for me. Susan told me the same thing.

"We are so ready to party!"

Surprisingly it wasn't Susan who said that.
