I had no clue how long my eyes had been closed. I have not felt anyone touch my body yet. I pretended to be somewhere else, hoping that this would get over quickly. If that vampire is going to kill me, so be it.

Although, there was no sign of that happening any time soon. I suddenly heard a voice near me. I could not recognize it, because my whole body had been shaking with fear. I opened my eyes slowly and I saw a face staring at me.

"Anna... Anna...?" Ethan kept calling out my name. His eyes were filled with worry. I was taken aback for a bit to see him in front of me.

He was wearing the same clothes he had worn to school, but they were covered in dust now. His hair was a mess. There was a slight cut on the left side of his cheek with a hint of blood on it. Looking at the condition he was in, I guessed that he must have fought with them.

I responded with a nod. My eyes glanced around Ethan to see all of those vampires fallen lifeless on the ground. Some did move, but not enough to get up.

Did Ethan do this all by himself?

He must be a vampire hunter as well. His Dad would be proud if he saw this situation right here. I rubbed my eyes again just to confirm what I was seeing - a purple light formed a dome around me perfectly, like a shield. I thought it was just the moonlight playing tricks on my eyes. The protection that this necklace gives me includes an invisible shield as well?

"Are you hurt anywhere?" he asked, looking at me with the same worried eyes.

He was almost touching the purple shield but wasn't. Maybe he is also able to see it.

"No," I replied, to calm him down. Suddenly I saw one of the vampires running towards Ethan. My eyes widened in shock.

"Ethan. Look behind you!" I pointed towards the vampire to make Ethan aware that he was coming, and so that Ethan can be prepared to fight back.

Ethan stood up immediately and turned around. He took the gun that was lying on the floor next to him, and shoot the vampire in his chest. The vampire collapsed right then and there. He is one hell of an amazing hunter for sure. I was impressed. I stood up and waited for Ethan to return.

"The situation is now under control, so there is no need to worry anymore." Ethan stood face-to-face with me.

"Vampires don't die with just a gunshot. So how is your gun able to kill them?" I asked in a curious tone.

After looking serious for so long, Ethan finally smiled. I was glad.

"I have no ordinary bullets in my gun. They are bullets made of silver dust that vampires are allergic to - which pierce through the heart."

"Wow." I was really surprised. I knew that vampires stay away from silver because it can kill them, but putting the silver in bullet form and shooting it at them was a smart and unexpected move.

Ethan had killed them, but how did he know that I was kidnapped by them in the first place?

"Ethan, how did you know I..." before I could complete my question, Ethan answered without hesitation.

"I was waiting near your house to make sure you reached home safely. After the accident, I promised myself to never let you be harmed again." I was really touched by this gesture.

"I did not see you, though?" Another question popped out of my puzzled mind.

"I was hiding behind the walls of your house; that's why you could not see me. I did not want to upset you since in the library you had clearly told me to go back home alone."

I had been too harsh on him this time. He had saved me from a near-death situation again, and I, on the other hand, had lied to him. I need to let it all out. Honesty is important for our relationship. We started walking towards my house. He held my hand firmly – and my hand fit into him like a glove. By him being protective over me, I am going to form a bad habit - the habit of expecting him to be around and save me all the time. That is definitely not good for the start of our relationship. This is the perfect time to have a one-to-one talk with him about the things I have hidden from him since my accident. He deserves that much, at least.

"Ethan..." I began and grabbed his attention. He looked at me with those chocolate brown eyes of his, as if he was staring straight into my soul. It gave me shivers for a moment.

I took a deep breath and just said whatever came to my mind, "After the accident, do you remember I was crying in the hallway of the hospital?" I left his hand and started to slow down a little – so that he would see how nervous I am right now.

"Yes," I heard him as he followed by my side.

"I found out that I am adopted and my real parents died when I was a baby," I said, trying to be as clear and straightforward about things.

He did not reply. I didn't have the guts to look at his face. He must be a bit taken aback, though his fast speed of walking did not show it.

I continued, "Dad told me that my real father was a wolf and my real mother was a witch, which means I must have genes from both parents. In the end, this explains the special powers in me, that James is trying to obtain from me." I took a glance at Ethan. He was looking straight at the road, deep in thought.

"And I even found my grandmother. I went to meet her today. That's why I lied to you and said I wanted to go home alone."

So there it was. I told him everything. It felt like a huge load was lifted off my chest. I felt happy. Things are finally clear from my side once and for all.

There was now silence between us. I still don't know how Ethan feels. He is taking things in, I guess. Or else why would he take so much time to respond to me?

I wish he would express himself, even though he is angry at me. I will take all of what he says with positivity.

"I am sorry to know about your parents and glad that you found your grandmother." Ethan finally spoke with no hint of anger in his voice. He sounded rather normal.

Or was he forcing himself to sound like that?

Was he just trying to control his feelings about this?
