The wind brushed passed me, nipping at my ears and nose with coldness. The pale skin on my body turned a heated red, the complete opposite of my actual body temperature. Jack Frost really pulled out all the stops today, making the town of Shadyside look like a wonder wonderland fairy dream. Each tree was dusted lightly with with powdery snow, looking as though put together in a store or painted on a canvas. Everything had a unique beauty to it, especially the girl standing next to me. Buffy Driscoll.

"So, Buff, tomorrow's the big day! How're you feeling?" She smiled, looking at the ground and shrugging.
"Excited, nervous, terrified. Every single emotion the the vocabulary of a seventeen year old girl." She spat out, a light giggle leaving my mouth. I took her hand into mine as our converse covered feet crunched the snow beneath us.
"I would think so. But you'll be happier in the end, that's what matters. Right?" She smiled and nodded, looking at me with her big brown eyes.
"Right. I'll be so much happier."

I would love to say that I loved Buffy as I do now since the beginning, but I would be lying. Buffy Driscoll was very sweet to me when we first met, just as she is now. Kind, lovely, beautiful heart and soul. But, when I met her, I hated everything about myself. And she just made it worse. She was so beautiful and amazing and I hated myself every single for not wanted to be with her. I hated myself for wanting to be with her quirky and quiet best friend. And now I am with the quirky and quiet best friend, and I'm holding hands with the kind and beautiful girl. And everything is how it's supposed to be. Lovely.

"Where are we going exactly?" She asked, looking around at a town that was unfamiliar.
"My house. Which you've never been to and I just think that's a crime." She laughed, a wide smile on her face.
"You know, Teej, I have plenty of time to visit your home." Buffy remarked, shoving me a little while we walked.
"Yeah, but you'll barely be able to walk after your bottom surgery. I want you to see it now rather than in three months." I stated, trying to hide the secret meaning behind the words.

Andi, Marty, and Cyrus insisted on throwing her a celebration. I, of course, was chosen to hid it and bring her to my house so she could be surprised. There's this thing about being in a happy situation, it feels different than anything else. Your heart actually feels full, weighing ten tons in your chest while you walk around with a new found pep in your step. People compliment your attitude and your smile and the way you carry yourself, and you just say thank you and move on with your life. Everything is calm and serene. No more anger and sadness. I like that.

Once we walked up to my house, Buffy's smile grew wider. She stared happily at the front yard. It's decorated lovingly with hedge animals that have flowers blooming around them. The house itself is a dusty pink color with a nice green lawn to compliment it. There's lights going up a cobblestone walkway that leads to the front steps. We climbed the steps, opening the door and entering. The lights flicked on and everyone jumped out, yelling surprise.

Cyrus ran up to Buffy, pulling her into a hug which was followed by Andi. The three were smiling so wide as Buffy cried from the happiness and shock. The three of them have been through so much, I just can't believe they're all still here. Marty From The Party pushes passed the crowd, embracing his girlfriend and placing a large kiss on her lips. Cyrus moves toward me, kissing me softly and quickly and pulling away. He took my hand in his, standing at my side and watching while Buffy greets the people who came to the party. Friends. Something I didn't have until now, and that I'm so happy I have now.

*time skip*

Cyrus leaned against the arm of the sofa, his legs across my lap and my arms over them. Everyone was gathered in a circle, telling stories of the good hair crew and laughing together. Smiles and joy were written all over their faces, the moment just too pure to give up. No one wanted it to end. To be honest, even though I don't know the majority of these people, I don't want it to end either.

"Cy, do you remember when I told you I was a girl and you responded with 'why would you wanna be like Andi?'" Buffy laughed out, Cyrus smiling wide as the group laughed.
"I do! I said it because I thought in order to be a girl you had to be dramatic like Andi!" He yelled, Andi crossing her arms.
"I still think that it was a rude comment." Everyone laughed. The feeling in the room was light.
"So, Buffy, what's next after bottom surgery?" A girl that I've come to know has Natalie questioned from next to Walker on the ground.
"We'll probably another breast implant, make my A's into B's. Then after that I'm getting myself some feminine hips." She spoke softly, happily and dreamily.
"And I will be taking care of her after every single surgery." Marty said sweetly, placing a kiss upon Buffy's cheek.

There's a thing I never understood about this group of people. Everyone is so different. There's the popular plastics, the e-boys, the theatre kids, the trans kids, the book nerds. Outgoing types and shy types all mingle together in one room and no one even bats an eye. No one questions them. Every single person in this room gets each other. They all move about as if there's nothing strange about it. About them. And it's because they've known each other since before there was popular. Before there was gay and straight or geek and princess. Before there was judgement. And everything was normal and happy. Just like now.

Normal and happy.
