17 Away mission

'Hey Scotty!' Jim flashed a cheerful smile at his favorite engineer.

'Captain perfect hair! What brings your sorry self down to my deck?' Scotty said good naturedly.

'I've been thinking, maybe we were too harsh on that girl Jenny.'

'We?' Scotty snorted.

'Maybe we could do a quick refuel stop at Wertha where we left her and talk to her.' Jim said earnestly.

Scotty debated what to do. He couldn't betray Jenny but he couldn't let Jim waste their stop.

'She's not on Wertha anymore captain.' He said finally.

'Since when?'

'She called me.' Scotty tried to think up a believable story as he spoke.

Kirk whistled. 'Woah-ho Scotty! I'm impressed! Laying on some of the highlands charm?'

'Not all of us are as good for nothing as you.' Scotty said with dignity. 'The wee lass is under my fatherly protection.'

Jim put his giggles aside and frowned slightly. 'So where is she? I do want to make sure she's alright. Spock was asking after her yesterday.'

Scotty's mind raced but he couldn't think of anything. 'I'll let you know captain.' He nodded weakly.

Jim seemed satisfied with that and drifted back to the bridge.

Jenny was restless and bored. But she had finally got her emotions where she wanted them to be.

'Oi! Get down!' Scotty yelled at Keenser.

Keenser shook his little head.

There was a clatter as Jenny scrambled up on the pipes next to him.

'Oi! Not you too lass!' Scotty protested but there was a smile tugging at his features.

'Does he always yell at you like this Keenser?' Jenny turned to the little alien.

Keenser nodded.

'We hearby sit here in protest!' Jenny announced, tucking her arms behind her head and making herself comfortable.

'In protest whatta ya talking about?' Scotty spluttered.

'Until we get fairer treatment and free range of the pipes we will OH" The ship lurched to the right suddenly and Jenny was sent off.

Normally she would have landed on her toes to absorb the shock and land safely, but instead she landed in a painful heap but had Keenser safely in her lap.

'That's why lass!' Scotty hauled her to her feet, patting Keenser on the head.

'If the ship hasn't jerked so suddenly...' Jenny muttered.

'It always does. Captain perfect hair doesn't know how to treat her with respect.' Scotty stroked the pipes leading to the warpcore.

'Yeah well I think I hurt my ankle.' Jenny winced.

Scotty tore his attention away from his ship and looked at her leg.

'Aye looks like a basic sprain.'

'Damnit.' Jenny hissed.

'Ya sound like that doctor.' Scotty chuckled.

'I'm not going.' Jenny scowled.

'Sprained ankle.' Bones pronounced.

'Great.' Jenny had set a new holographic face and donned long sleeves.
