She kept squirming and wiggling away from the somatic perimeter I made around her but I held her firmly inside it. It wasn't easy though. Trying to protect the Princess as we leave the party bus is like keeping a very upset wet kitten steady in one's hands.

We struggled until we got to the door where I grabbed her hat with one hand. She took that opportunity to bolt away but my other hand was quick to catch her wrist. I led her down the steps of the bus until we got outside.

She glared at me with piercing eyes. "Unhand me, you brute!" She hissed and I let her go as I realized how tight I held her. She soothingly rubbed her wrist.

I felt a little bad for her. Just a little though. In my opinion, Princess Maiena as stubborn and troublesome as she was deserved a little tough love. Preferably in the bedroom. Wait. What?

Stop. Back up a little. Forget I ever mentioned a bedroom. Didn't happen. Won't ever happen.

"You will regret this." She warned, her glowering gaze lashed at me like a whip. "I will tell Nikolai..."

"What? What exactly will you tell the Crown Prince, Your Highness? That you fooled him and The King and sneaked away from an official event to this unsanctioned party without security, therefore endangering yourself and breaking protocol?" I sneered back at her, meeting her stare with my own determined eyes.

And three, two, one... I fixed my gaze on her thick lashes and watched them flutter. A trick I learned to handle being around her that made it appear like I was looking in her eyes without actually drowning in their enchanting depths.

After a few seconds of tensed silence, she stepped closer to me. She tilted her chin up, forcing my eyes to align with her own. She leaned closer. "Fine. Maybe we should just kiss to break the tension," she whispered.

I froze. I fucking froze, wide-eyed and mouth agape, like a deer caught in the headlights. God damn it!

I thought about it, seriously thought about it.

Before I did anything stupid, she smirked. "Nah! Your face is too pretty to be put up on a spike." She stepped away.

Did she just try to trick me into kissing her so she can have me executed for it? What the...

Witch! Hundred percent. Princess Maiena is a sly, cunning, spell-binding witch hiding behind innocent brown eyes and a sweet smile.

Holy shit! I couldn't believe I was even considering it and was momentarily losing all sense of logic.

Get yourself together, Aidan! Don't be a stupid ass weakling!

I felt my jaw clench as I snapped back to my senses. "Listen, Princess. This is what's going to happen. You are getting on this bike and we will ride back to the ball where you will sneak back into that restroom then go out and smile at my brother as if none of these ridiculous things happened."

Gali, yes. He would be heartbroken if he knew what his little Princess tricked him and almost cost him his honor as an elite knight who's only job is to protect her. Royal blood or not, I won't let any woman do that to my brother. He's too kind to deserve that.

"Oh yeah?" She narrowed her eyes at me. "Make me."

To her shock and despite her protests, I picked her up and carried her to my motorcycle, confident that she couldn't incriminate me for following her orders.
