47-Of Tricks And Treats: Part 2

I waited anxiously by the connecting door in the Queen's (which was already Maiena's) bed chamber while the Princess was in her old room alone with the dauphin. Every minute that passed became more distressing than the last and I had to stop myself several times from directly barging into the room with them especially when I heard them talking affectionately to each other. I had to remind myself that it was all part of the plan and that I shouldn't be jealous at all.

Then Maiena finally lightly knocked three times. That was the signal! She succeeded. Pushing aside the thoughts of the means she used to succeed, I rushed into the room with Desmond who was waiting there with me. Crown Prince Nikolai was with the dauphin's entourage and did his work in the palace as usual to avoid suspicions.

When I laid my eyes on Maiena, I was momentarily stunned. She looked so beautiful and seductive. A stubborn little pang in my heart pinched in my chest at the thought that she did that for another man.

"Aidan!" She sighed in relief and ran into my arms. She stood on her toes and hugged me tightly as she nuzzled into the side of my neck.

I held her closer to me as I completely forgot all my petty jealousy. I cradled the back of her head and kissed her temple.

Desmond disgruntledly groaned as he walked past us and intentionally nudged my back with his shoulder. "Come on, lovers, let's get to work." He said. He then proceeded to rummage through the dauphin's unpacked luggage.

We both blushed and chuckled. I pressed a quick kiss on Maiena's lips then let her go so we could help with the search.

After a few minutes, Maiena found a laptop bag and a hard drive under the couch. She got it and quickly ran to the table and opened it. Desmond and I continued to search for more sources of the files.

Maiena opened the laptop and turned it on, it was protected by a password and finger scan. There was also facial recognition and voice command with a particular phrase. I was concerned but not too worried. It seemed impossible to get through but Maiena smirked and looked at the sleeping dauphin beside her, "Too bad you're asleep. You won't see me crack your security in less than five minutes."

Yeah. Our Princess is also a computer genius. Painting her nails would take longer than hacking the dauphin's computer.

She then ran to her room. When she got back, she had her phone and laptop in hand. She connected her laptop to the dauphin's and started furiously typing commands on a black screen of her laptop. Her eyebrows were slightly furrowed and her lips were pursed as she worked. At that moment, I became even more attracted to her. Genius Hacker Princess Maiena is so damn hot.

In less than a minute, the dauphin's laptop started showing movement on the screen. Asterisks showed up in the password bar. She frowned at the dauphin and pouted. "I expected more of a challenge from you, Your Highness." She chuckled and got up just in time for the password to be accepted. She turned the dauphin's laptop towards him and walked behind him. She took his right hand and placed his fingers on the trackpad to be scanned one by one. Seeing her touch the man meant to be her husband distressed and angered me at the same but all I could do was clench my fists and let her do her job.

As expected, the laptop let that through and asked to the next layer of security to be fulfilled, facial recognition. Maiena then lifted the dauphin's head from the table as she stood behind him then cradled his jaw between her hands to hold his face to the camera. "Smile, dear." She grinned.

I gritted my teeth but still didn't interrupt her. What's worse than Maiena's  hands on other men was not having them on me ever.

The facial recognition level was passed then moved on to the voice command. Desmond and I looked at Maiena with worried frowns. She put the dauphin's head back down and shrugged then casually strolled back to her previous seat and picked up her phone. She swiped a few times and opened an app. She scrolled down then clicked on something. She then typed something on her laptop that I assumed would make her find the pass phrase which she found ofcourse. She turned to the dauphin with a look of disgust on her face. "The nerve!" She muttered then held the mouthpiece of her phone to her mouth. She rolled her eyes before she spoke, "Maiena Stella Divina Montealta Valois." The voice that came out from her phone was not hers at all but the dauphin's! It was creepy but impressive.

There was bitterness in my mouth when I heard her full name with the dauphin's last name. It was repulsive. Desmond chuckled softly and shook his head. He was standing beside Maiena and saw the command go through. "I never thought the dauphin could be so childish." Then he turned to me. I was by the door then. He sneered. "And you to be so petty."

"Yes, Desmond. Very mature." Maiena rolled her eyes and held up her fist to my cousin's face. She scowled at him. "How do you take it?"

"Touché." Desmond chuckled and shook his head then moved away from her. He was obviously not scared of her tiny fist but he was careful not to piss her off.

Maiena started working on the dauphin's laptop. She typed furiously again as his eyes moved quickly around the screen. It was fascinating and breathtaking to watch her work. When her face finally relaxed after a few minutes, we knew she has made progress but she wasn't done yet. She kept typing and clicking on the mouse.

Then I heard footsteps approaching the bedroom door. I turned to the two of them and signalled that there was someone outside. Desmond and Maiena both looked at me as I placed a finger on my lips to tell them to be quiet as I listened closely. The footsteps stopped right outside!

Three knocks were tapped on the door. We all looked at each other, stunned.

"Your Highness..." Monsieur Louis's voice with his heavy Etazurian accent called. "Dinner is almost ready. Would you like me to help you pick out your dinner suit?"

The three of us, inside the room all looked at each other and silently asked each other for answers in panic. Maiena sighed helplessly as she looked at the computer screen.

We had to find a solution fast and avoid suspicion at all cost especially when Maiena was so close to getting what we needed.
