The three of us seemed to be frozen in panic. We frantically turned to each other alternately and quietly asked each other for a quick solution. Any solution.
I looked at the computer screen. The virus I installed will take five more minutes to crack the encrypted folder that I found. After that, I'd probably need another half hour to grab all the files I needed from Philippe's computer, check all other sources and methods of dissemination and wipe them all out.
"Your Highness?" Monsieur Louis tried to open the door but it was locked. I wondered if Philippe did that earlier or I did. I couldn't recall since I was having a nervous breakdown then.
The lever rattled a few times but did not open. Aidan, Desmond and I desperately demanded answers from each other in silence.
"Your Highness, are you alright? I'll call the guards." Monsieur Louis said.
"I can fix this." Desmond whispered as he suddenly came up with an idea.
Then...
"Ah!" I yelped as I felt a sudden sharp pain on my side.
Desmond pinched me!
I furiously turned to him and mouthed, "What the hell?!"
He just shrugged. I glared at him. Aidan marched towards us angrily. I was sure he was going to punch Desmond in the face but stopped when the dauphin's assistant knocked again.
"Your Highness?" Monsieur Louis's voice seemed to soften to a conspirational tone.
Desmond grinned and pinched me again. I squealed, "Ah!"
Aidan forcefully pushed him away from me.
Desmond merely lifted an eyebrow and smirked as he moved his hands, urging me to go on. When I didn't react, he threatened to pinch me again. I hastily got up and hit my hip on the table. The room was filled with a loud bang followed by my yelp and whimper then the dauphin's long groan as he was suddenly disturbed from his sleep.
We held our breaths as we stared at him and only silently exhaled in relief when he put his head back down. Luckily, he didn't wake up.
Monsieur Louis must have heard the commotion because then he spoke in a low voice. "Should I come back later, Your Highness? It seems you're still busy with the Princess."
Desmond smugly tilted his head to the side and mouthed, "Go on. It's working."
I knew what the dauphin's assistant must be thinking so I went along with it. "Ah, yes!" I moaned. Aidan turned to me with sharp eyes and squinted. "Right there. Yes!" I gazed guiltily at Aidan but continued to make insinuating noises.
Aidan's expression became darker. Of course he didn't approve of that solution but it was what we had at the moment and it seemed to be working. I threw an apologetic look at him and shrugged as Desmond signalled me to go to the bed.
I walked over the bed and sat on it then bounced up and down as I continued to make coquettish sounds.
A nervous throat clearing sound was heard from the door. "Uhmm... Your Highness?" Monsieur Louis's voice was barely audible but he was still there.
I sighed in exasperation. Why couldn't the guy catch a clue?
Aidan seethingly strode towards the bed with a murderous look in his eyes. His face was flushed, his ears were beet red and a blue vein bulged on his temple. He was furious. He stopped beside the bed and kept his eyes glued on me. With gritted teeth, he raised his hand and showed my cellphone. He then spoke to it. He growled, "Shut up and get the hell out of here, Louis, or I will have your head on a spike!" in the dauphin's voice. Of course! The voice changer app I created!
"Right away, Your Most Royal Highness. I'm so sorry." Louis spoke in a meek voice then rushed away.
Before I could commend him for what he did, Aidan angrily tossed my phone aside, grabbed me and rammed his lips on mine. He kissed me furiously. His lips fiercely sucked my lips and his tongue forcefully pushed my teeth apart as he pinned me down on the bed. His tongue invaded my mouth as his hand started rubbing my body. Aidan's rough kisses and touches surprised me but still elicited an inevitable response from my body. I was caught in between logic and instict. I could barely breathe.
If I wasn't thinking straight at the moment, I would've given in to the pleas of my flesh. Thankfully, my mind was still stronger than my body, I gathered my strength from it, I bit hard on Aidan's lip and pushed him away.
"Stop!" I gasped as I glared at him.
He seemed to be calmer but there was no sign of regret in his eyes as he touched his lip. There was a little cut that started to bleed. I felt a little guilty for hurting him but he deserved it for being too imprudent. What was he thinking?
He didn't seem hurt or offended at my response to his callousness. He even smirked at me as he leaned to whisper in my ear. He spoke in a low and suggestive tone, "I thought you were acting. I was trying to help. We should mess up this bed and make it reek with sex." His hand moved and caressed my thigh.
"Are you crazy?!" I sneered at him and slapped his hand away. "Desmond is here." I angrily pushed him off me and marched away from the bed.
He chuckled behind me. "Later then," he said loudly.
If I didn't love that man, I would've thought he was a total basket case and stayed as far away from him as possible.
Desmond shook his head and said, "Apologies, Your Highness. My imbecile cousin appears to have been dumbed by jealousy." He then held the dauphin up from the chair and dragged him to the bed.
I ignored Aidan and Desmond and whatever they did to the dauphin as I focused on the work at hand. I looked at the time on my laptop screen. We will be called to dinner in an hour. Glancing at the dauphin, I remembered Desmond saying that the effect of the medicine lasts for two hours, less if the subject was strong and could easily recover from the drug. Philippe certainly was fitter and stronger than most men. Almost an hour has passed since I gave it to him. I should work fast!
The virus has been successfully installed and has started its work on the dauphin's computer. I typed in the command for the search. The program remotely opened and sorted all the files from the dauphin's laptop. My mind immediately started working at lighting speed as I kept my eyes glued on my screen and my fingers flew around the keyboard. My blood rushed through my veins as my heart pumped faster with anxiety and excitement. I prayed that no other untoward incidents would happen.
If there were no more interruptions and luck was on our side, my plan could work.
Success was still uncertain as the minutes passed steadily.
