Elvira takes the book and heads home.
It was a Sunday and she had the day off. She had plans, but this comes first.
So, she spends most of her day looking up symbols and trying to read most of the book. She knows a few languages, so she could pick out a couple of symbols.
At the police station, they gave her a paper that had quite a few words already translated.
Elvira got half of the book read and translated by the time 8 rolled around. Her watch buzzes like crazy and she looks at it. It was her timer to get up and walk.
"*sigh* I will see...YOU...later," Elvira marks the book and closes it. She puts on navy leggings, black see through shirt with a tank top, and her navy jacket with thumb holes.
There's a park not too far and not too close to her house. It's the go to place for a few heros.
Elvira doesn't think twice and heads there.
On her way, she resists the urge to buy a few snacks on her way. Almost, at least. The last shop on the road there, has quite a few pastries and desserts. She goes there often and gets recognized by a few of the employees.
"Hey Elvira!" Cady says from behind the glass case.
"Hey Cady~" Elvira smiles. She sets her purse on the counter right in front of her.
And as usual, there was only one or two customers, including Elvira, that are there.
"The usual?" Cady asks as she pulls out a pen.
"Why not?" Elvira pulls out her card.
Usually the usual means the same thing everytime someone goes somewhere, but for them, it means something random everytime. As long as it's not cinnamon, caramel, or that weird butter icing on some cakes. Everything was up for grabs.
"How many?" Cady looks up and down the case, debating.
"Mm...four."
"Mmkay," she puts whatever into a paper bag and rolls the top. She rings it up and they say bye.
Elvira sits on a bench in the park and opens the bag. She looks at the contents.
Cady gave her four Strawberry Napoleaons.
Elvira sits back in the bench and starts eating.
But, in the middle of eating the third one, a black bird with yellow eyes lands on the other end of the bench. She stops mid bite.
Elvira kind of has a fear of birds. Chickens are the worst, but regular birds, if they get too close, make her a bit scared.
The bird hops twice towards her.
She puts the Napoleon back in the bag and roll it up. She eyes the bird and slowly starts to move away.
The bird caws at her and keeps looking at her.
A few joggers run by and the bird flies onto a tree branch close by.
Elvira stands up and moves to another bench. The birds follows her.
"What do you want!" Elvira turns to the bird on the ground behind her.
"Shoo!" She flips her hand at it.
It gets even closer.
"Ah crap," Elvira says to herself. At the same time she sees a certain hero by the name of All Might jogging her way. "Double crap."
She looks down at the bird and tries to shoo him away again. This time the bird wasn't having it.
It pecked at her feet and flapped its wings.
"Hey!" Elvira puts her hands up. The bird perches on her arm. "Uh!"
The two freeze for a second.
"Uh...hi there!" Elvira smiles nervously.
"Caw!" The bird yells and starts pecking her head. It clings itself to her hair and tries to pull.
"Stupid bird! Get off!" Elvira yells at it and tries to swing at it.
It pulls on a braid with some strength.
"What the heck, man!" Elvira smacks the bird. It flies back a bit and comes back. This time, making her trip on her tail.
"Ow!!!" Elvira accidentally squeaks.
"Alright, that's enough!" All Might, still in his skinny form, grabs the bird and tosses it into the grass. It flies away though.
"Are you okay?" He grabs her hand and pulls her up.
"Yeah, persistent little thing," Elvira rubs her head.
"What happened?" All Might fixes her hair.
"Uh..I honestly don't know," Elvira looks up at him.
"Well, try to not make any more birds mad. Is it a thing with birds and cat quirks?" All Might asks.
"Yeah, but not enough for that crap to happen," Elvira adjusts her glasses and looks at his hand, which is still on her head.
"Oh really?" He looks back into her eyes.
The two sit there for a second.
"Um, your hand?" Elvira blushes very subtly.
"Oh! Right," All Might backs up a bit.
"Thanks though."
"For what?"
"The bird?" Elvira squints a bit.
"Oh! Yes of course, no problem," All Might chuckles nervously. He blushes.
Is he doing what I think he's doing?
"Okay, then, well I think i should be going," Elvira turns away.
All Might looks around for anyone. The coast was clear.
"Actually, Cheshire Cat, I wanted to ask you something," All Might says.
Elvira stops for a second and looks back at him.
"Excuse me?"
"You're the Cheshire Cat right?" All Might takes a step towards her.
"I don't...know what you're talking about," Elvira shakes her head.
"Well, I figured it out last night. That wound from the knife wasn't just a coincidence. That was actually you. Wasn't it?" All Might says.
"Man, what're you talking about?" Elvira closes her eyes.
"Oh...uh...sorry....I guess it's just wishful thinking," All Might says.
"You really want to know who she is," she crosses her arms.
"Yeah, I kinda do," he scratches his head awkwardly.
"Why? Might help to get it off your chest."
"Maybe, but I won't trouble you with it though. I already wrongly accused you. So, I think I'll just go now," All Might walks away with his head down.
Elvira just stands there with her arms crossed. "Well...that was anticlimactic."
****sorry that I changed it. The end there just didn't sit well with me****
